The Uninvited Guest?

I’m aware of this guest; who visits me silently,

It’s been quite some time now vividly.

He never says much, but seems to tell,

“Some things are not to be said but felt!”

He stays and coerces me to believe -

Believe that my close ones will stay.

My helpless mind tries to reason perhaps,

“People sometimes, might also go away!”

This guest of mine, he’s a stubborn one –

Doesn’t leave and stays for long.

Tries to make me accustomed to him;

Persuades me to believe what’s wrong!

Perhaps you were right, maybe nobody stays -

They just arrive for a few memorable days.

For people come of their own accord,

They ought to be allowed to leave without discord!

But this guest of mine, he has a terrible habit;

Of raising hopes – in hollow and baseless smitten.

This guest of mine - he calls himself, “Attachment”!
