The River Lost Its Depth
The River Lost Its Depth
I tried to drown into the ocean of your love.
I thought it would be exhilarating.
To be heads over heels for someone.
I suffocated in
What seemed at first caring,
But were brutal waves of your love.
Loving me, for you, was an adventure.
Perhaps it was never true love.
It was a mere conquest.
For me,
I lost myselves in you.
I threw away my soul,
To be immersed in yours.
Was that love?
I wonder sometimes.
I used to feel like a river.
Giving in everything to its ocean.
You were my ocean.
You were my universe.
Now I feel,
What I did was self damage.
And not love.
I loved you.
Maybe I still do.
But, I never recognised when,
While loving you,
This river lost its depth
And became far detached from its source.
