The People's Pleaser

The People's Pleaser

She was a people's pleaser

Basically one of those who forgets themself in order to please the other,

The people she liked, certainly didn't reciprocate

But that didn't stop her from writing their names on her friendship slate.

Anyways, she loved everybody and the the people around her were her everything,

Always knitting them together with an imaginary friendship string.

She felt she was important to those who formed her priority,

Little did she know, she was not even a particle of salt in that majority.

She moulded herself and changed for people,

And every time her real self knocked, the fear of being rejected made her cripple.

She was vulnerable, thinking she found a new friend,

Now she's at a point where those exact memories make her cringe again and again.

Her definition of friendship was a tragedy,

People thought she was the happiest but they were so far from reality.

And soon living upto people's expectations and plastering a fake smile just became a part of her personality.

She managed to keep people happy for a decent amount of time,

Dimming her own light just to let people around her shine.

This lasted until reality hit her hard,

People all around revealing their true faces and flipping over every possible card.

It was painful to see that the fruit she cherished for so long was actually rotten from the crust,

And that balloon of perfect friendship she blew suddenly burst,

Conversations that lasted for hours altogether

came to end from the day she stopped texting them first.

And the family she thought all this time was against her were actually her strongest support,

Once she improved her relation with them

It felt like she caught the airplane just before it left the airport.

Times changed and her real personality was back,

A little bit of hard work and a set of true friends bought her back on track.

It's not that now there was no one to call her names,

It's just that this time they failed to control her brain.

And everything happens for a reason they say, absolutely nothing goes vain,

Because those people taught her the best and she would never cross that lane again.

And yes the thoughts of wasting the best years of her life do cross her mind,

But with the amazing present she lives now, the pain of the past is difficult to find.

There are absolutely no regrets she carries, lessons learnt are uncountable,

Now she's become a bit more mature than her age and her past experiences are definitely accountable.
