That Old Cupboard
That Old Cupboard
There is an old cupboard in my house
It has a broken door
Which has to be fixed repeatedly
The door is pale brown
It has lost its shine
Cockroaches breathe in it
When someone opens the door
They run away here and there
When the lights are off
They come out in groups
They remind me of a few people
Who just can’t confront
That broken door is my life
It has to be fixed repeatedly
But still, it works fine
Sometimes it is the best
This reminds me of my friend
His cupboard is so impeccable
It shines like a star
It doesn’t have any broken door
There are no cockroaches in it
I get jealous of his cupboard
I began to feel down
But then he tells one day
His cupboard has a problem too
It has been destroyed from inside
By the parasites, the termites
I have thought then
No one’s cupboard is perfect
Some complain it’s too ugly
Some say it's too big
Some shout it’s too old
But no one ever says
Whatever the damn cupboard I have
It is perfect and beautiful
Perfect like the sweetness of honey
I do agree my cupboard has flaws
But I will adjust with it
One day I will get it fixed
Until my friend tells me
Your cupboard is too old
But it’s the best I ever saw
Old is gold
