The Gift of Life

The Gift of Life

Life is not just a beautiful, blissful, dream,

Though vibrant and colorful, it may seem;

The dark shades are there with the pale;

 If you succeed, you must sometimes fail.

When the dreaded jaws of ill-luck open,

Before you know, you are irrevocably taken,

Into its cavernous deep, dark belly, and there

You are enmeshed in its engulfing snare!

You may tremble or you may shake,

You cannot crumble, you cannot break;

You must face it; composed and cool,

 That is life’s stringent law- that is its rule.

The Rainbow is then certain to appear,

Sun- rain fused; beauty without compare!

Rain without the sun, and Sun without rain

Will make the sky colorless, drab and plain.
