Rickety Road
Rickety Road
She traveled the rickety road
Not a penny in her pocket
in torn jeans and a jacket,
with dreams in her socket
she treads the rickety road.
Mouths to feed, many ,
gathering twigs for fire burning,
Knowing not,,
will the porridge be hot?
Trudging on the slippery road.
Plucking wild berries,
singing, dancing, making merry,
berries her desert, her gourmet,
was all that she gets.
From morn till noon,
a big twigs bundle is a boon,
the sun will set soon,
wondering how will she reach home ?
Unmindful of the thorns,
on her head, the load,
steps taking bold,
she braved barefoot, the rickety road.
Gazing at the passerby, humming tune, of a song,
she heard a gong,
turning around,
she slipped on the rickety road.
Down she went rolling,,
her head swirling,
the bundle of twigs, now scattered.
that was her's whole day's earnings, that mattered.
She got up with a jerk,
with back ache , how will I work?
she lost hope !
Began to tread the rickety slope.
She wondered she made a blunder,
her World went asunder
throu
gh the thicket how will she meander,
the winding, rickety road.
The Sun at the zenith was diving,
the evening stars began popping,
the haze became a maze,
disrupting her gaze.
The crickets began stridulating,
their sounds humilating,
the owls in the woods hooting,
summoning the night creature to a meeting.
Soon a flash of light on her face, fell
she was dismayed,
to see her father,
and her mother,
sliding down to save her,
on the curvy , rickety road.
An Old woman had seen her,
sent a rescue team to save her,
begged her parents to give her,
a new home ,a new zone.
was all that woman offered.
In the dusky evening
her dawn glimmered,
her Sun rose, with his chariot,
to take her to new home, a new name.
Leaving behind her parents, and her siblings.
was not acceptable.
In their love, she was comfortable
She preferred to walk the rickety road.
The old lady was lonely,
she offered food, her mansion,
to the whole family,
an invitation.
To this offer, to her graces,
they embraced,
Now no more treading the rickety road
