Mumbai Diaries

As I came to Mumbai for my son’s admission,

In IIT Bombay, one of India’s prime institution.

 

We left in a cab for some fun and to explore,

The city of dreams I have not come before.

 

Powai lake was just nearby, from our room we can see,

A little gossip sitting on its banks, when we were free.

 

Gateway of India was crowded and full of tourists,

Enjoyed the cool breeze, the rain, and the mist.

 

Pigeons in front of Taj were always ready for a flight,

Most of them were grey with an occasional white.

 

In the rainy season mirror image of Taj gave a beautiful look,

The cameras and phones were always ready to click.

 

A big ferry was there taking us to Elephanta caves,

On the way going up and down with rough sea waves.

 

Sculptures there were so elegant, they add to its beauty,

Caves were so big, to preserve them is our duty.

 

At marine drive waves change with high and low tide,

Showers of water freshens you up from inside.

 

A visit to the big mall caller r-city,

It’s turns of ladies and our purses get empty.

 

A drive in the morning when life was not so fast,

At Juhu beach, the never-ending seashore was so vast.

 

At Lonavala, you can feel the force of the water on your face,

I had never seen so many waterfalls in one place.

 

A visit to Bushi dam was enjoyed by us all,

Sitting on the stairs on the way of a gushing waterfall.

 

I have heard Mumbai has so many other places to visit,

Heavy rain and shortage of time prevented us a bit.

 

At last, it was time to thank god for all this,

A thanksgiving prayer at Siddhi Vinayak for fulfilling our wish.
