Journey Ahead

Journey Ahead

2 mins
400

He stood motionless, in front of the mirror,

Countless minutes passed, he continued to ponder,

Whether it was he or someone else he did wonder,

Reflecting his present, reminding his past-

Stood the lifeless mirror.

It seemed a surreal journey, like a trick of a conjurer,

Destined to struggle, fight for his rights,

And position and to suffer;

Long has been the journey,

Numerous obstacles did appear.

En route- lost his youth, wrinkled his skin,

And hairline did retreat to disappear.

Gained a few, lost much more;

Such was his journey thorny.

Many trespassers, few true companions,

And some unacceptable company,

Lonely destinations, solitary ambition,

Yet unfavourable was the destiny.

Stopping for a timely rest, during sojourn,

Gasping for breath yet no conceivable harmony.

Meanwhile, the mirror poked,

Like an ever demanding wife or girlfriend's joke,

"Come out of the reminiscence,

Look at the present and the future ahead."

With the reminder, he came out of the untimely slumber,

Looked poised;

Distractions are plenty, resources are scanty,

Vowed with a resolute mind.

With an unpalatable taste of the past and an uncertain future,

Promised to parry the numerous setbacks and enormous pressure,

He must act in the present without relenting and

Give up his momentary pleasure,

With a beaming demeanour,

Renewed vigour looked back at the mirror.

Like a ripple free lake water, stealth and crystal clear;

The mirror reflected, a face confident and deadly sure,

Smiled and muttered, "I was just kidding," my dear,

"I will remain a sincere witness of your past, present and future forever."
