LAMENTATION OF A MORTAL

LAMENTATION OF A MORTAL

2 mins
317

The day came upon me abruptly

Knocking on my wobbly door gently.

I unlocked the door in half slumber

And saw him standing at my door.

He demanded me to set out at once

Denying me an urgent preparation.

You had an entire lifetime to get ready;

Now it's time for you to accompany me.

Procrastination always entertained me,

And I wasn't prepared to mend the ways of life.

I was proud that there's a long life ahead.

My dreams, never fulfilled, still live in my heart.

I forgot about living a life for myself,

And their delight was always my priority.

Those that I lived for are now without life.

My home that filled my love will soon be desolate.

Who shall pay my debts, compensate for the losses?

To whom shall I entrust the rest?

None around me to bid me farewell;

I shall leave leaving everything behind.

To whom shall I share the reserved love?

I was rough to them for a reason

That it's for a good life unknown,

But now I'm leaving before they realize it.

He showed me the misery that lay ahead for them;

The fate of those I care about pierced my heart,

And all I had was nothing but tears.

I saw them insisting her to forget me forever

And begin life anew with another.

Her strong resistance was found futile,

And my children, too, shall leave my memories.

That's how life is; it may not reminisce the past.

Some live in hearts as eternal memories

And some memories only in frames,

But how is mine! An unworthy.

No merits shall keep my memories alive;

No magnanimity, no act of kindness.

An empty grave is awaiting me

With the promises of an uncertain life,

And I will soon fade into oblivion.

Why are you callous to innocent lives?

The time of birth is obvious

But why not the time of departure!

Death is such that he doesn't show mercy.

He is impartial to the weak and the strong,

And to the prepared and the unprepared.

Expect no leniency and compromises.

When it's time, we shall leave uttering nothing.

Your life is today; death is tomorrow.

Live prepared, and you will leave content.

Live your life to the fullest

And you will depart with no regret.
