The Chameleon

The chameleon sits on & on with its extensive feet on a tree branch,

With its extendable tongue and swaying gait, it is always ready for a catch,

With a crest or horn on its brow & snout, it is a treat to watch,

With its reversible tail, independently mobile eyes they are unique creatures without a match.

Nature had created it with its ability for a camouflage,

For its own protection against predators or an alien attack in a battle or in an outrage,

But there are humans who voluntarily change their colour, identity or image,

To cheat, deceive or hoodwink fellow humans and to throw them out of the stage.

The history of mankind has plenty of such precedences,

When many such human chameleons altered their guises,

Only for their own benefits or the interest of their races, got the better of others,

Who, earlier were their benefactors or people of preferences.

These hypocrites or masked traitors never give you a hint,

About their hidden motives to swindle or to cheat,

Speaking candidly, deceptively they fool you that they really, sincerely treat,

Their associates, friends, comrades with the highest merit.

They entice you, lure you to their own snare,

Without giving you a chance to think or ponder over the affair,

By the time you realise, everything has been lost in the guts of fire,

Of their greed, avarice, lust, deceit, betrayal or for any foul desire.

These chameleons are so varied in colours, sex, creed or type,

That you have every possibility of meeting or discovering one in a five,

The only clue you can trace when they will try to avoid every type of hype,

Or the involvement of more people in the affair or in case of strife.

Though they are difficult to be detected easily,

Still you can make a guess from their approach, behaviour & talks too friendly,

Flatterers they are and will try to lure you with words gullible,

And make you believe that they are your only benefactors likely.

So be aware of such human chameleons, friends!

Lest they will put you in serious trouble at the end,

In today's world they are million in number,

In every field of life, they will invariably appear.
