Into The Night...
Into The Night...
You stare into space...
Is it staring back?
Look at the wall clock, it ticks ten past three.
The dark cloudy expanse leading out the window
It’s getting free-er and free..
Two strange figures are walking down the long road ahead.
You feel the instant desire to join in on them,
To walk the path like you own the night.
Instead, you sit by window curled uptight.
You feel the need to get out and breathe deep.
Rather, remind yourself that the task at hand needs to be seen.
The two young ones are now playing with a dog
As young and wild as them, hopping in the fog.
The walls drawing in on you as you struggle to look in the faint gleam.
You savor the moment in the blackout peering at them easy buds.
It’s getting windy, about to rain.
Is there any shade to shelter in for them?
You realize you worry too much.
After all, you aren’t the one in need as such!
You sip your tea, binge on some late night snack,
As you get cozier in your shack.
You are free, of course, but you choose wisely,
And that’s why you are on the other side.
A glance at the clock again, it binds you down to the grind.
Try and focus on the work overdue.
But you skip a beat as you breathe in sweet dew.
You lookout for the kids as they wrestle against the rain
Dancing instead, chanting loudly, they cheer and hail...
