I Did Love You

When least I expected love, it knocked at my door,

I kept it locked, but it stayed a bit more…

I had walked that way once, so did know the pain,

I knew it was a gamble; nothing to gain…

So, I put more locks, but you managed to find the key;

To all my efforts of not falling again, you were ready to sail every sea!

The moment I fell, you decided to get up;

Before I could know, you said," It's a break-up"!

And then one day, you said," I did love you…" 

I cried for days, made countless calls,

My sobs couldn't reach you; you had yourself surrounded with high walls.

All the promises you made and the feelings I felt…

Empty words they were, only a deep hollow was felt…

No mercy you had, and I lacked defiance,

I was asking for too much; for your loyalty and my reliance…

It was all much "fun" but now it was time for you to leave,

To my pleadings; you're deaf; you said it was my fault if I wear my heart on sleeve…

And then one day, you tell me," I did love you…"

Just curious I am, so want to ask,

Did you feel the same pain when in my separation, did you burn or bask?

Did you miss my voice and all my talks…?

Not a wolf, I think you were more of a fox.

Did you want to surrender on just hearing my voice…?

Like mine, did your heart too rejoice…?

What we both remember of each other was a whole different story!

I only suffered more, reading our history…

But you wanted me to believe when you said," I did love you…"

I wonder what love you did have in your heart,

If my absence in your life didn't really matter much, sweetheart…

It was hilarious how the same scenarios painted different pictures in our minds,

For you the bed and for me, the heart was the home, in love; this love blinds…

How convenient is your convenience and how easy for you to say;

Offering a friendship while returning my broken heart into pieces and expect me to obey.

And guess what, I do!! one more time; now it's me at fault!

"You can't find happiness where you lose it…"; so, it is time to halt.

Doesn't matter if you said," I did love you…"

Let me tell you something, my love,

I don't change people like a glove…

If you ever did love me for once!

Trust me all these words I wrote for you, would have impaled your heart with a guilty lance!

If you ever for once, felt how I feel…

You'd not wound me more, but would help me to heal…

If once only you'd have looked into my eyes,

In love with my love, you'd have fallen instead, you'd have never hurt me in your princely disguise…

"Don't get me wrong there, I did love you…" is what you told me…

And even sadder it is, you lied and wanted me to believe it…
