Her Line

Like everyone she drew a line,

A line of strength and will.

A line that was designed,

To be the same throughout the humankind.

She had seen other lines. 

Some the same as hers,

And some that were different.

These different lines were unique

Inviting and kind.

Yet she thought and believed

That they were different than hers.

But over time

As she developed her mind.

She was soon to question

The strength and will of her line,

And what had been designed.

Her line began to twist and twine.

Changing ever so slightly,

As she thought quietly.

She knew who she was

Yet she questioned because 

No matter what her line,

Still didn’t feel quite right.

So again she changed her line.

Carefully this time.

It was okay she thought.

She had seen others,

Do this before.

Comfortable at this pace,

She met others in this place.

She helped where she could,

To unwind other lines.

Alone at last,

She thought about the past.

When she saw

Another locked door.

The line behind,

Reopened her mind.

To something more,

She hadn’t seen before.

Her line began to shake and shift,

But she didn’t understand this rift.

She went to a friend,

Who had seen this type of bend?

Once she was told,

The whole truth began to unfold.

It now made sense,

And things no longer felt so tense.

She showed not even a few,

The new line she drew.

But it was okay,

As she knew was finally true.
