Guru Gobind Singh's Mission
Guru Gobind Singh's Mission
During those times of downfall
No expectation could be made
From Rajputs having lost their
Valour, pride and fighting spirit
Hindus living in western Punjab
Had long forgotten their bravery
Hindus of the innermost Punjab
Were devoid of physical strength
There were differences of language
In Bengal,Madras and Maharashtra
These people were tired of fighting
With Muslims for quite a long while
Thus for his mission tenth Guru
Chose the Northeast Punjab
near Himalayas where people
Were influenced from Guru Nanak
Guru's opinion that if only one
Extinguished lamp could be lit
Then over a period of time
Many more could be lit from it
He thought of lighting the lamp
That had dried up and blown out
Putting the wick of Nation's love and
Oil of the blood of his own sons
He proceeded to work in the area where
Guru Nanak had prepared the ground
In the northeastern Punjab in a steady
Settled, strategical and peaceful way
Till about the age of thirty two years
He devoted time in learning and analysis
Mastered himself and taught his Sikhs
The martial skills, riding and hunting
He encouraged among Sikhs the keen
Interest in hard work and discipline
He collected, composed and got composed
The poems of moral, valour and courage
He started practice among his followers
Of bringing offerings of fine weapons
In place of things of routine use like
Tapestry, carpets, shawls and jewels
He wrote Dasam Granth and in one
Section of it gave a detailed account of
Durga's fight with the demons for infusing
Fighting spirit and not for worshipping her
