Flame

I looked at the flame

Weaving on its wick

It seemed it was calling my name

Yelling hey! Look into my eyes

And see all my tricks

 

I can shoot up and down

Dance in the air

Without a care

I put a touch of gold in every crevice

Bring out the light in the darkness

Warm your body

And soothe your soul

Remove the heavy burden of your worries

But only if you look at me

 

I know you see my aura

Orange first and then comes gold

And at last an ethereal blue visible just so

Not too large but just enough to light me up from within

 

I am not so different from you

I need oxygen to live too

I am just as vulnerable

A strong gust can blow me over

I have melting limbs that hold me up

Until the time comes when they can’t

And I can’t escape death anymore

Just like you

 

And like you

I am reborn

Reshaped from the same wax

Just as you are with the same soul

Reshaped into a new body from the same earth

I too burn bright

Provided I have enough air to breathe

You too can do so

Provided you are ready to grow

 

Grow brighter

Grow stronger

Live longer

And learn

 

Learn to love

Learn to forgive

Learn to grow out of material life

 

Now it’s time to snap out! It said

Out of the mesmerising hold of my glow

And go back to face the world

Use the time you have

And use it wisely

Before you melt
