Falls Of August
Falls Of August
For the single reason that I still live,
Is to gaze into the mirror and make me believe,
That the winds at the shore,
And the waters can roar,
But still,
Your reflection in my eyes can pour.
The heat of the love that once we felt,
Is still breathing slowly under the thick green pelt,
Where days are nights of quiet contemplation,
A wait for the time to shed those inhibitions,
Which years of separation have built
Into enormous mountains of disbelief and guilt.
Wish I could race back in time,
To walk down the lane with you and dine,
On fried eggs and baked pancake
Sitting on the stone by the dark blue lake.
A silent moment with you is all I want,
When the mouths are shut and the hearts chant;
Holding hands beside the foggy vines,
Where there is you, the sun always shines.
