Life on the Highway

Life on the Highway

On the asphalt canvas, where stories unfold,

A journey embarked, a tale to be told.

Engines roaring, ambitions set ablaze,

In the race of life, where ego often sways.

In the rearview mirror, reflections of steel,

Comparisons unbridled, a never-ending reel.

Faster than the fastest, a relentless chase,

Lost in the rhythm of our ego-filled race.

Honks echo loudly, abuses in the air,

Directed at those who seem unaware.

Driving slowly, a sin in our haste,

But have we questioned the reasons, the taste?

Hurry engulfs us, the destination in sight,

Yet, the beauty of the journey slips out of sight.

Eyes fixed on the horizon, time slips away,

As we yearn for tomorrow, neglecting today.

The bigger our chariot, the ego swells,

In its metal cocoon, a tale it tells.

Money spent, a measure of our might,

Expecting all others to yield to our flight.

The road becomes a stage for our grand show,

A spectacle of ego, the seeds we sow.

Give way, we demand, in our car so grand,

Forgetting that humility is life's true strand.

In this grand theatre, where arrogance is king,

Ego trip begins, like a broken wing.

For in the pursuit of self, we've lost grip,

It's no longer a road trip, but an ego trip.

The fragrance of fresh flowers, a roadside delight,

Blossoming colours, enhance the journey's light.

The smell of rain on a hot countryside canvas,

Childhood memories resurrect, moments that surpass.

Bringing the enjoyment of innocent days,

During the chaos, a nostalgic haze.

Zooming past in speeding cars, the scenery a blur,

Missing the magic that once made our spirits stir.

In our pursuit of destination, blinded by the goal,

We forget to savour the journey, the heart and soul.

Each mile becomes a means, not a moment to relish,

As time slips through fingers, like grains in a cherished dish.

The road, a pathway to more than just the end,

A symphony of senses, each turn a friend.

Let's slow our engines, breathe in the fresh air,

And rediscover the joy that was always there.
