For an atheist, I believe in a God who brings me a step closer to you. It’s a distant worship—one that destiny has carved out for me. She wants me to writhe in pain, and she wants it badly.

But for you, and only you, I’d take it all with a smile. Because, in all honesty, what else can I do but thank my stars every time someone speaks your name? And in between my breaths, I leave a silent prayer—every damn time.

A desolate hope lingers within me, making me believe in the myth that you’ll be mine someday. But like every story I’ve ever been a part of, I am, and always will be, the worshipper standing on the other side of the bridge—hoping, hoping, and hoping until I no longer can.
