Day 4 - The First Message

Day 4 - The First Message

I returned home that evening with her smile still in my mind.

Yesterday, she had waved at me from the door.

Today, I could not stop thinking about that wave.

I opened my notebook and tried to write.

But my words kept returning to the same thought.

Should I send her a message, or should I wait?

I did not have her number.

I did not have her name.

I only had the memory of a cafe and a book.

I thought about tomorrow.

Would she come to the cafe again?

Would she sit at the same table, or would she choose another?

My heart said one thing, my mind said another.

My heart said, do not let this moment slip away.

My mind said, do not rush, let it happen naturally.

That night, I could not sleep well.

I kept checking my phone, though I knew there was no message.

I kept wondering if she was also thinking about me.

The next morning, I reached the cafe early.

I chose the same corner table and waited.

The rain had stopped, and the air felt fresh.

She arrived after some time.

She looked tired, but she smiled when she saw me.

That smile was enough to make my morning complete.

She sat down opposite me, just like before.

We spoke about books and about the rain.

Then, she did something I had not expected.

She tore a small page from her notebook.

She wrote something on it and slid it towards me.

It was her name and her number.

"For the next time you want to talk about books," she said.

"I thought a first message should not wait too long."

I held that small paper like it was something precious.

When I returned home, I stared at my phone for a long time.

My fingers trembled as I typed the first line.

"Hello, this is the boy from the cafe."

I pressed send, and my heart beat faster.

Within a minute, my phone lit up with her reply.

"Hello, this is the girl with the book."

That first message was short, but it changed everything.

It was no longer just a cafe meeting.

It had become the beginning of something real.
