Lest You Forget

I lived those moments wanting time to freeze...

Love, joy and happiness could all be felt in the breeze...

But now that the story has taken a drastic turn...

Its time to leave behind the memories and just move on...

I try to start afresh and to abandon my past...

I try for it to happen too soon and too fast...

I wish to banish the memories of all that I now regret...

But life starts playing an interesting game with me called Lest You Forget...

This is a tricky game , no set rules to follow...

It mocks all my attempts so far and shows how my heart is all hollow...

Life takes on itself as its duty to remind me every single moment...

Of her and her memories and together the time we had spent...

From weather to words, it succeeds in finding some silly relation...

Of a present day happening to have a strong past connection...

Either I wake up to find that its the same day that we met...

Or I happen to notice something so peculiar about which you always did fret...

A TV commercial of a place we together visited...

Or my past month's phone bill where your number dominated...

Silly things like the dish on the menu that you always ordered...

Or my phone ringtone that you did forward...

Even when someone else walks by wearing your preffered fragrance...

It rings the bell in my heart of our lost romance...

Your thoughts just do not happen to leave me...

These reminiscents of the past do not let me go free...

Are these mere coincidences or they hold a deeper meaning...

Like a message from the almighty of having marred his choicest blessing...
