Compass Of Life
Compass Of Life
Invites were sent-
To all the deserving;
I was left out,
Didn't know the reason.
Had followed all
The diktats prescribed,
Here and there strayed,
As all humans did.
Carrying a bloated ego,
A chip on the shoulder.
But that could hardly be
Construed as a grave sin.
Stood forlorn outside,
The gates of heaven.
Toes and fingers crossed,
Would I be let in?
His treasurer must
Have wrongly entered.
The figures in my-
Life's balance sheet.
But never lost hope,
Else would have been-
Stewing in the flames of
Hell's dungeons.
The wait proved short,
Gates opened wide.
Guarded by the angels-
Was invited inside.
He arose and hugged me
To his chest,
"Child I was merely
Testing your strength...
Come into my parlour
and join the rest...
You have lead exemplary life,
Deserve the best"
Overwhelmed I kissed
The hem of His robes,
Entered His parlour,
To find a permanent home.
A big round of applause
Could be heard.
Loud and clear, woke up,
Pillow wet with tears.
It was the sound of-
Thunder clapping outside.
I was still on terra firma,
Very much tied.
An awakening,
There is still time to,
Change the compass direction of life.
