White Rose Pack (Chapter-35)
White Rose Pack (Chapter-35)
Colin’s POW
Colin sat on the log, holding one of Adina’s hands in his, with his eyes closed. He heard Adina’s breathing change. It became deeper and more relaxed. He felt the tingling that he always felt when he and Adina touched increase. It felt like bubbles travel from Adina’s hand to his.
“Open your eyes,” Adina whispered.
Colin opened his eyes, and he couldn’t believe what he saw. All around him there were thin wisps of what look like mist. But they glimmered in different colours and moved around, in between and through everything. In places they entangled with each other and shifted colour, became thicker or thinner.
Everywhere he looked, he saw them. The trees and the ground had a shimmer to them. He looked at Sean and he drew a breath in when he saw Sean’s true form. He looked bigger, prouder, like a warrior, and behind him, as a shadow, there was a big brown wolf. Colin turned to look at Adina, but before he could look at her, she placed a hand over his eyes.
“Not yet,” she said.
“What are those things?” he asked, looking at the wisps again.
“That is magic. It runs through everything. The magic of things mixes with other magic and becomes something new. Nothing exists in a vacuum, everything is connected,” she told him, and he heard the smile on her face.
“Is this how you always see the world?” Colin was amazed that she could function if this was her world.
“No, I could, but it’s too distracting. I use it when I need it, or when I need to feel connected,” she said.
“Because the magic is everywhere, you can use it in so many ways. One of my favourite things is to listen to the heartbeats of a pack,” she continued.
“Let me show you, you will love this. Close your eyes again.” Colin took one more look around him before closing his eyes.
He could feel as Adina pulled away the magic from him as the bubbles along his arm went away.
“Magic runs through us all, and just as we have small sparks of electricity in our bodies, we also have magic.” Adina explained.
“That makes it easy to track a heartbeat. Each time your heart pumps, it sends a wave of magic through you. If you know how, you can see this,” she continued, and in the darkness beh
ind his eyelids, Colin could see something.
A pulsing light, like a dot of yellow and red light. The throbbing of the light matched his heartbeat. He realized that what he saw was the magic imprint of his heart beating.
Then, next to it, he saw another small pulsing light. It was pure white, and it pulsated faster than his. It was Adina’s. Then another one appeared, this one red and blue, Sean. And then several more appeared.
They spread like roots on a tree. All pulsating in different speeds and each one had a unique colour. Then he saw a small, almost transparent thread connecting most of the dots.
“What is that thin string?” he asked Adina with his eyes closed.
“That is the magic of the pack bond.” Adina said.
“This is my pack?” Colin asked, feeling his heart swell.
“The ones that are around town.” Adina confirmed. “The further away, the more difficult it is to pick up, and the more diffuse the feeling becomes,” she explained.
Colin took a moment to study the image that had appeared to him. He looked at all the pulsating lights. To know it was his pack made a feeling of calm and satisfaction come over him.
“This is amazing, Adina,” he said, squeezing her hand.
“I thought you would appreciate it. It has its uses, of course. If you need to find someone or identify who is an outsider, and so on. But mostly I use it if I can’t sleep or if I feel disconnected. It calms me down to see how everything comes together.”
They sat there for a while in silence and then Colin could see the image slowly fading and he opened his eyes and blinked a couple of times. He was in awe about what Adina just had shown him, about what his mate could do.
He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer, and leant down to give her a soft kiss.
“Thank you for taking time to show me this.” he said. He saw her smile back at him.
“My pleasure,” she said, and then she pushed herself up.
“Time for a bit more training,” she explained as she walked towards Sean. Colin looked at her as she started sending items back. At least, that is what Colin thought she was doing. The items disappeared from the pile, and he assumed they reappeared where she had gotten them from.
