A bull was wandering on the street. A friendly dog wagged its tail.
“What brings you here? Isn’t the day beautiful?” asked the dog.

The bull responded, “Hi, friend. It’s so nice of you. I’m just wandering to kill time.”

The dog was concerned. “Is there something I can help you with?”

The bull replied, “Once again, thank you for your gesture, but I am not in a perilous situation. If and when I need you, I’ll surely let you know.”

The dog further asked for the bull’s address. The bull said, “Behind Lord Rama’s temple, there is a cowshed where I live with other cattle.”

While both were talking, a person hurled stones at the bull and the dog. The bull was scared, while the dog started barking in defense. The person continued to swing a stick and hurl stones. This time, the dog scared the person away by showing his teeth. The person ran off.

The bull thanked him. “So, my friend is a braveheart.”

The dog wagged his tail. “I was protesting against violence. Don’t we deserve respect?”

The bull agreed. Meanwhile, the person instigated other people. He was not ready to accept his defeat. He made up his own story and spread fear among the crowd. The people decided to wrap the dog in a blanket and throw him from the terrace.

The dog was sleeping peacefully. One of the zoophobic people wrapped the dog in a blanket. The dog started barking loudly. The bull, who was in the cowshed, became alert. He said, “My friend is in danger. I should help him.”

He chased the people and swung his horns to fight the cruel, zoophobic attackers. The bull was successful in scaring them away. The bull shouted while swinging his horns, “Friend, run away!”

The dog saw people coming with sticks to beat the bull. The dog said, “I won’t leave you alone. The people are here with sticks to beat you!”

The bull continued fighting. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll find a way to save myself.”

The dog was hesitant. Finally, the bull swung his horns toward the dog. “Will you go or face me?”

The dog understood that the bull was trying to save him, so he didn’t mind. He remembered that the bull had mentioned his address earlier. He said to himself, “I should somehow try to involve some men from the cowshed.”

Some men were having lunch nearby. The dog thought, “I’ll steal their food so that they follow me and save my friend.” The dog stole the food so the people would chase him. His next step was to release the cattle and lead them to the scene.

The cattle were released by the dog, with the help of other dogs who chewed the ropes tied to the barrier. Many cattle ran away while the owner chased them. The owner saw people hitting the bull. He recorded the evidence and called the police. Meanwhile, the escaped cattle started scaring off the zoophobic people.

The owner of the cowshed brought the cattle back safely, while the police rushed to the scene and caught the animal abusers. The police thanked the dog and the cowshed owner for saving the bull.

Friends, in this abstract, the dog was saved — but in reality, a stray dog was tossed from a terrace and electrocuted in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Even bulls are not safe in India or in other countries where they are tortured in the name of religion and entertainment.

In Spain, the horns of bulls are lit with fire only to entertain. It’s about time we unite and save animals. Use every trick in your book — be a volunteer, raise awareness, write letters to the concerned authorities, pay attention to details, stay vigilant, and act at the right time.

Save animals. Say no to animal abuse.
