The Wall

How about alteration? – she asked

But why dear what’s wrong on this wall? – he questioned back

This wall looks dull, don’t you think honey? – she replied.

But why this conversation started? how did it end? let's see.

A newly married couple Anjali and Shyam had moved to their new flat 3 months ago, Anjali a school teacher, Shyam an Engineer. The things started to change when Anjali heard a woman voice saying HELP ME!! PLEASE and she also heard a woman crying at night as she searched for it she was unable to identify. She tried sleeping by her eyes forcibly shut, as she slept she had a dream of woman crying standing in front of her.

Next day morning -

Anjali asked Shyam whether he heard a woman crying at night and said she saw a woman crying for help in her dreams I am scared Shyam. Shyam consoled Anjali by saying that she was tired and stressed by her busy schedule and asked her to relax. Anjali though was not satisfied she remained silent. Anjali who was bored enough at home decided to change few interiors – As she altered many things the wall near the kitchen was not up to her satisfaction, she purchased many decorative things to make it look good but as a result, she failed. All she thought was to alter the wall- she was eager to tell this to Shyam.

As Shyam arrived evening, she explained all her efforts to fix the unsatisfactory work- Shyam was impressed by her words. He asked: so what are you up to what help do you need from me?

How about alteration? – she asked

But why dear what’s wrong on this wall? – he questioned back

This wall looks dull, don’t you think honey? – she replied.

Well despite all your efforts let me do this for you Anjali Shyam said.

That night Anjali heard the same woman’s voice, this time even Shyam heard the same voice- Shyam peeped out of a window to see where the voice was coming from! But couldn’t identify- the voice did not stop saying HELP ME! PLEASE, this time both were scared and spent sleepless nights.

The next day morning Shyam wanted to find the reason behind the voice they enquired with the neighbors- they said they did not know about this and they did not hear any voice as such. As they sat together silent – Anjali pointed at the wall with a shivering body – Shyam was shocked to see the white wall turned red in color the wall turned to be a mysterious part. They took courage to collapse the wall. As the wall was collapsed a woman’s body wrapped in plastic cover fell down – Anjali screamed looking at the dead body saying this was the same woman whom she saw in her dreams and this was the one who was asking help. The police were informed about this. As police arrived they identified body said she was Maya her parents had filed a complaint against her husband stating she was missing from the last 20 days and they were unable to find the body – Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Shyam said the police and left with Maya’s body.

As Anjali laid on bed she dreamt of Maya saying – I was murdered by my husband Anjali I was married 6 months before we shifted to this house. One day I saw my husband with another lady and found out that he had an affair with the same lady. As she fought with him regarding his affair he slapped Maya and demanded a divorce from her. The fight grew big as she refused for divorce. He stabbed Maya with a knife and killed her – seeing this Anjali woke up suddenly and said Shyam about Maya. Shyam replied not to worry about it anymore as he already arranged to change the flat and they would be moving to another flat in a week.

Few days passed,

Anjali and Shyam moved to a new flat, Anjali wanted to give justice to Maya as her life was pledged by her cunning husband she wanted to know whether Maya’s husband was punished. She couldn’t hold back – she called the concerned police and asked about Maya’s case. To her surprise police said mam the case has been closed as we arrested Maya’s husband and enquired after few long hours he accepted that he was guilty- he was punished by the court a lifetime sentence. After 2 days in jail, he was found dead the reason is unknown – police replied.

Anjali's heart was relaxed. She knew Maya got justice…..
