The 13th Floor

As a legend goes, there is a haunted home in the city of Pennsylvania. A long time ago, invitations were sent out to people asking them to attend a Halloween party here, and Jack and Mary were amongst the invitees who were kids and didn't know about the house's history. The home consisted of a maze of identical passages and staircases, all leading to the 13th floor. Most people never made it to the 13th floor, scared by people dressed up as ghosts and ghouls. But Jack and Mary and made it to the 13th floor despite all this. The stairs were almost cracked and making a very creepy sound. Jack was a very coward boy and Mary was a brave girl. She was followed by his brother, so-called "coward brother". The staircase was full of spider webs, small holes filled with insects. Looking at all this Jack tightly caught Mary's dress and she was getting annoyed and murmured, "How can a boy be so coward?"

Finally, they reached the "13th floor". They both started investigating and finding the reason why is this called a haunted home. Jack saw a painting hanging on the cracked wall. After observing the painting keenly he realized some movement in the eyes of the person whose painting was hanging. He immediately called Mary, "Mary, Mary there's someone behind this painting. Mary turned towards the wall but she noticed nothing, in fact, she didn't see any painting on the wall. The wall was empty and Mary roared at Jack, "You coward boy don't disturb me again when I'm observing something carefully. Just go away and do your own investigation." Jack was shocked that how a painting can disappear within a second.

They both again got back to their inspection. Mary found a very weird glass ball in which she can see many small creatures moving, she called Jack and asked him," Why the creatures are inside, and if they are taken out what will happen?" Jack replied," Please don't try to break the creatures because they seem to be very eerie." But Mary was a girl who once decides to do something then she will ignore everyone's warning. She broke the glass ball and all the creatures came out and suddenly they transformed into human beings. Mary and Jack were shocked to see the creatures turning into humans like them. Mary went to them and asked, "Who are you?"

One of them answered, "We are human beings like you are but we all were magically turned into creatures by someone." "By whom," Mary asked in amazement seeming to take interest in all the stuff. The person answered, "Once like you we all were also interested to investigate about the haunted home but we found nothing, and when we were returning it was 12 o'clock at night and we were captured by a spooky ghost. She captured us in a long capsule filled with some chemical and within hours we transformed into creatures and she kept us in the glass ball." Another man told them," You seem to be kids so I warn you please leave this place as soon as possible because if the ghost appears she might transform you too into creatures." After listening to all this Jack became drippy due to his cowardice and Mary was enjoying all this. So she made a firm that till she doesn't find the ghost, she'll not return home. Jack argued,"Mary why you want to be your life in trouble, let's leave this place and return home. It's about to be midnight hurry." But Mary told Jack that if he wants to leave he may leave but Jack can't leave his sister alone so he also stayed with her and all the human beings again turned into creepy creatures.

As soon as the clock struck midnight a ghostly sound was heard. They both became cautious and Jack started reciting carols as his mother told that carols can make ghosts go away. Mary made her way towards the sound with Jack following her. As soon as the ghost appeared Jack fainted but Mary waited for the ghost to come nearer and know her secret and she also made Jack revive. When the ghost came near Mary, the ghost asked her," Who are you two who are not afraid of me a little bit too?" Mary answered, " I'm Mary and this is Jack and today we are here to know your secrets, will you like to share your secrets with us and if you have any problem than we may help you." By seeing the innocence as well as her bravery the ghost agreed to share her secrets and requested her, "Oh you both please sit with ease as my story is a bit longer."

Then the ghost started her story, "Actually I'm not dead, I'm not a ghost. This house is mine and a few years back I lived here with my family. I had my son, daughter, daughter-in-law, and my husband living with me. After my daughter's wedding, she went to India and settled there. After a few months, my husband died due to a heart attack leaving all his property and this big house with me. My son and daughter-in-law were very greedy which I didn't realize earlier and wanted to take all the wealth and this house. One day I heard my son talking to someone," Till tomorrow night the lady should be dead, and then I'll arrange a big party for you'll." After hearing all this I realized that he was talking about me and was shocked that how can a son give commands to kill his own mother but I understood that I have to do something to put these criminals out of my house. So I thought of becoming a ghost and drive away from this sinner. After a lot of days, they both finally left this home and also told their story to everyone so that no one can ever dare to enter this house. But few people used to come and investigate this house even after seeing me, which I didn't like." Jack interrupted in between, "Then how you turned these humans into creatures?"

The ghost, oh sorry the old woman answering her question again started reciting the story," Then I went to a very famous magician where I learned many tricks and transforming humans into creatures was one of them. After many days some men again came for investigating and I turned them into creatures but one of them was saved and ran off and he spread this news. After that no one ever dared to pass through the house and I lived a very peaceful life. But after a long time, a party was arranged in this house and you both came here. But you are so brave and innocent that I can't think of harming you both. Mary asked with hesitation, "Why only this 13th floor is made spooky?" The old lady answered, "Because there are many secrets and memories here which I show to no none and I'm not going to show it to you too." Mary said, "No problem you told me so much that is enough for me. Thank you. Now the sun is going to rise, we should leave for home or else our mother will eat us today for being so late." "hahaha! You are so funny. Ok you may leave and you may come any day, anytime to this house but please don't reveal all my secrets." So they both bid goodbye to the old lady and often came to meet her and spend time with her.
