The Train That Never Returned
The Train That Never Returned
Every evening at exactly 6:15, Aarav stood on the same railway platform.
Trains arrived and departed. Crowds gathered and disappeared. Life moved on.
But he remained.
Five years earlier, on that very platform, he had met Meera.
It was a rainy evening. The wind toyed with her umbrella, turning it inside out as she laughed helplessly. Aarav noticed her, walked over quietly, and steadied it. That simple gesture sparked a conversation… and that conversation slowly blossomed into something neither of them had planned—love.
From that day on, 6:15 became their time. No matter how busy life grew, they found their way back to each other at that exact moment. The station became their little world—filled with shared cups of tea, soft laughter, comfortable silences, and dreams of a future they hoped to build together.
Then one day, Meera didn’t come.
Aarav waited.
6:15 turned into 7…
7 into 8…
And soon, the night swallowed the platform.
The next day, he learned the truth.
Meera had boarded a train that evening—an urgent journey she had never mentioned. Somewhere along the way, tragedy struck. The train met with an accident.
It never reached its destination…
And neither did she.
Time moved forward. People forgot.
But Aarav did not.
Every evening at 6:15, he returned to the platform. Not because he expected her to come back, but because that was where she still existed—in every memory, every echo of her laughter, every whisper of the rain.
Years passed. His hair turned grey, and his steps grew slow. Yet, his heart remained frozen at 6:15.
One evening, as the sky glowed in shades of gold and the sun quietly faded, a gentle breeze brushed past him. For a fleeting moment, he felt it—her presence, soft and familiar.
Aarav smiled.
Because some loves do not need a lifetime to become eternal…
They become the lifetime itself.
And though the train never returned—
His love never left.
