We have been driving for a good 45 minutes, we haven't talked yet because she has been on the phone since I climbed in with the people decorating for the party.

"I want the fairy lights on every tree in the front yard" Amanda says sounding like she is getting frustrated. "I understand that, but I told them for the front, not the back. I'm aware we have more trees in the front. I don't care about the cost. It's for my parents. Yes. Thank you" she finally hangs up and tosses her phone in the cup holder next to her.

"You would think the catering company I went with knows what to do for an event like this. They come highly recommended by a few of my parents, friends, but they seem to call me about something every few minutes" she sighs while taking a right turn. " I'm sorry I was on the phone when I picked you up, do you want to get some food for the road?"

She doesn't need to apologize for that, I totally understand, and I think it's a nice thing that she is doing for her parents.

"It's fine girl I completely understand. I hope everything turns out great for your parents and sure I could use some food?"

"I'm craving some fried chicken. You want some?"She asked as she pulled into a chicken fast food place, driving her car down the line and stopping at the order window.

Ugh, it's been so long since I had fried chicken! Nothing tastes better than Popeyes if you ask me, but any chicken will do.

"We definitely friends for a reason! Yes!" I giggle a little bit, Amanda seems like the type of girl that would be spoiled rotten but her wanting some greasy chicken instead of something fancy tells me she is a little more down to earth than that.

She orders her the fried chicken strips and I order me two legs and a small fry. My stomach's already growling with need, knowing it's about to get something it hasn't had in a long time.

As we are both eating our chicken my phone dings inside my purse, feeling my pulse quicken at the thought of it being unknown, holding onto my food making sure I don't knock it over, I pull my phone out, seeing its a texts from Claiborne.

Thank god, I mean thank god it's not unknown not thank god it's Claiborne.

I'll take him over unknown any damn day even though he's a straight asshole.

Clicking on the message I watch as it pulls up and quickly scan my eyes over the text.

Claiborne- Meeting in the board room at 4:15pm Monday. You will be coming with me. It's an important client and I will need you to take notes.

Me- Yes sir.

I need to keep it short, I can't allow this crush I have on my boss to go on any longer, this has to stop.

Claiborne- Put it down on a sticky note?

Why does he always ask me that? No, I didn't put it on a sticky note. My hands are covered in chicken grease and I'm trying to enjoy my meal, I'll add it to a sticky note later.

But it wouldn't hurt to mess with him about it a little.

Me- You know it. See you Monday.

Before I can even put my phone down next to Amanda's my phone dings again, sighing softly, I put the lid over my food so it doesn't get cold and read what he said.

Claiborne- You can't come to my meetings writing notes on a sticky pad. That's unprofessional.

Ugh, fine. I'll get a damn note book!

I can't get too annoyed with him though, I'm aware they are not very professional just very effective.

Me- I'll get a note pad. Better?

Claiborne- Actually I'm getting you a work tablet. You can take your notes on there.

Me- How much?

Claiborne- I said I was getting it.

Me- Do you buy all your assistants one?

Claiborne- I never needed to.

Me- Well, why can't I just use a note pad?

Claiborne- Most of my assistants knew how to do their job and had their own.

Me- Well I'm sorry I was never an assistant before. I think I was doing a great job keeping you on track with your business things.

He can be such an asshole sometimes I don't even know why I have a crush on him to begin with, sure his very good looking, okay I'm lying he is hot as freaking hell but still, his a complete dick sometimes.

Claiborne- Just accept the tablet. It's for work. God damn.

Me- I don't think it's very professional for you to be cursing at your employees.

Claiborne- I apparently only curse at you.

Me- Well that's not very nice. I'm trying to eat some chicken. Do you need anything else?

Claiborne- You won't be seeing me Monday. My parents will be with Amanda's and I will be with my parents. You're going to be seeing me tomorrow.

Fucking great.

"Everything okay?" Amanda asked as I sighed loudly, I tried not to, it just slipped out.

"Yes, just Mr. Claiborne. Telling me about a meeting Monday" I tell her before picking back up my chicken and taking a big bite, do you want to know the best thing about fried chicken? The freaking skin, it's delicious.

"He will be here there this weekend. Our parents always hang out with each other, remember?" She said as she digs into her own food.

"Yeah, I remember you told me" I tell her. "He told me I would be seeing him tomorrow"

"It will be okay, I promise, his not such a hard ass out the office"

Yeah, I hope so.

"That's good" I said as I take a few fries and shove them into my mouth before I say anything that I shouldn't, it's killing me to fight this crush and I would love to talk to her about it but I just can't, what if she thinks I'm stupid for having a crush on my boss?

"We are almost there. My parents will be out with friends till late, so I'll introduce you to them in the morning"

"Sounds good. I can't wait to meet them" I smile at her and she smiles back, I hope this weekend will be okay, I hope Claiborne and I can get along and I hope unknown doesn't try to play one of his or her games with me. I would hate to have to do something to ruin Amanda's parents anniversary party.
