The Space Adventure

Dots the giraffe, Boo the monkey, Trunky the elephant and Stripes the zebra were taking a walk in the forest at night.

“Help! The mud is eating me!” a voice screamed. “It’s coming from there” cried Stripes.

Four spooky green arms were drowning in the muddy lake. “Grab my neck”, shouted Dots bending down. Trunky, Stripes and Boo all held Dots legs tightly.

Slimy hands grabbed Dots’s neck. Thud!!! A strange creature fell on the four friends. It had four hands, three legs, two mouths and a horn with lights shining on its head. “Alien! Run!” yelled Trunky in fright. “Stop!!” begged the green creature. “Who are you?” demanded Stripes. “I’m from Mars- a Martian. Thanks for saving me” bowed the alien.

Dots saw a huge disc shaped ship with blinking lights. “What’s that?” asked Dots. “My spaceship” said the Martian. “Wow! Can we go for a ride?” jumped Boo. “Sure” nodded the Martian. All of them entered the spaceship and blasted off to space.

Once in space it felt as if something had changed. They looked at each other in surprise. Dots head kept hitting the roof of the spaceship. “What’s happening?” shouted Boo trying to stand in one place but he kept on floating around. Trunky was the happiest of them all. He had never felt so light before. “I can fly! Yaaay!” shrieked Trunky excited flying in different directions and turning cartwheels in the spaceship. “On earth there is gravity which pulls us to the ground and we stand still. Space has no gravity so everything becomes very light and even heavy objects float” explained Stripes upside down, his head bumping the floor this time. “Look! I’m swimming in air!” chattered Boo flapping his arms and legs pretending he was in a swimming pool.

The earth got smaller and smaller and went out of view. They zoomed past stars, planets, rocks with tails of fire and landed on a huge red ball. The Martian gave a cunning smile. “Welcome to Mars my dinner. You shouldn’t trust strangers!!!” he laughed loudly. With his four slimy green hands he grabbed Boo. He put Boo’s head in one mouth and his tail in his other mouth. Dots, Stripes and Trunky all looked at him in horror.

Dots flew to the control panel and pressed “DOOR OPEN”. Trunky hovered to the alien and whipped the alien’s legs with his trunk. “Take that you mean creep!” Stripes also hit him and the alien lost balance of his three legs. Still he did not leave his deadly grip on Boo.

Stripes freed a huge cylinder and pushed it towards the Martian. The cylinder floated landing on the alien’s horn with the shining light and it broke. “Ahhhh! My eye! I can’t see anything” screeched the Martian letting go of Boo. Boo flew away from his clutches as fast as he could. Trunky gave him one last whip with his trunk and the Martian floated out of the spaceship. Dots pressed “DOOR CLOSE” and rocketed them safely back to earth.

‘Whew! That was close’, sighed Dots. ‘Group hug all’, smiled Boo in relief thanking his friends.
