The Phoenix

The Phoenix

You're a Phoenix who was burnt into ashes to rise again. You're the poem with hidden meaning and rhythm only an empathetic reader can understand. You're a painting with the flamboyant blending of colors only an artist can discern. You're the lyrics of a melody only a music aficionado can get. And you are one of the most beautiful yet complex souls who can be possessed by an equally deserving soul. I am lost in your words not because I know you well but because you are an enigmatic path that always has something mysterious which asks me to dig in more and keep that treasure secure.

Whom am I talking to? And most importantly, who am I talking about? That’s me actually, yes I have this habit of self-talking or should I say self-praising. Actually, I have never been praised by anyone. So I build this habit of talking positively about myself to myself. That’s on daily basis, I do. While sitting in my patio, gazing up at the night sky, counting the stars, feeling the breeze on my face, I talk to myself about what I did the whole day, where I lag behind, what else I need to work upon, to improve myself.

It was an autumn season, I was sitting in my patio looking at every minute thing happening in my garden. Squirrels running after each other, greenery turning into yellow, leaves falling to the surface, one or two butterflies hovering over flowers, and a lot more. Every little thing happening there was teaching something. It was up to me how I take that entire lesson in, that Mother Nature was giving to me.

While I saw greenery turning into yellow and leaves falling to the ground, I realized that throughout the year we witness greenery, the autumn arrives turning all into yellow sends us into a reverie to contemplate over everything happening. The lesson of detachment is taught where the beauty of solitary is revealed. It tells how beautiful it is that things end and it ends to have a new beginning. The sine qua non of ending is all that we learn to fathom the importance of the new beginning.

I realized that I was dwelling on my past that people come to my life and then leave but I never understood, this life that I have been gifted is mine, it’s up to me how I embellish it. It taught me that we are born free and it’s all in our hands to control our life and even if we can’t, we can still be happy with what we are gifted with. We are the enigmatic soul who has long list of desires, who beseech for the ray of hopes when find ourselves in darkness, we are born free but still chained by some decrees, norms and rules. We need to shatter these chains by discerning the note of independence. We need to smash these chains into smithereens and spread our wings to fly high with our great dignity and pride. It’s all up to us, trust me it is.

Remember those butterflies I was talking about initially, they teach me two important lessons. First, how to isolate yourself into your cocoon until you are ready to face the world. The butterflies have to be into its cocoon until it grows into a beautiful butterfly with vividly colored wings. And second, how to choose opportunities (flowers) for your best outcome (nectar). They switch from one flower to another, pollinate a very few. Similarly, we should look at the opportunities carefully and choose the best suited for us.

So, in that small garden, each thing was a teacher. When you love to be a student, you learn in a better way. Life is all about learning and growing, so be the best student and take everything you are being gifted or taught.

We all are phoenix, we face good times as well as bad but only those survive who has the will power to learn from every phase and want to be invincible and unstoppable.
