THE NIGHTMARE
THE NIGHTMARE
The police officer, Rajendra Singh, along with his wife Nandini and their only son Veer, was recently transferred to a village called Kankurganchi. The village is connected to the city by only one bridge.
Rajendra Singh is a good officer who does his work with full effort. Under him, a sub-inspector named Sujata was working with him in the village.
Rajendra Singh got a house from the sarpanch of the village.
In the afternoon, Nandini was cooking lunch in the kitchen for her child. Suddenly, she saw a beggar outside, staring at her with a smile.
She felt awkward, so she told the guard about the beggar. The guard went to check, but he found nothing.
At family dinner, Nandini told this strange incident to her husband. Rajendra was surprised because he had also seen a very old beggar, but it was a child who looked very injured. As Rajendra tried to go near the boy, he ran away.
The guard was shocked to hear Nandini’s story because he had seen a lady beggar.
Veer said, “It can be a prank by our neighbour.”
His father replied, “There is no neighbour around us.”
The next day, Rajendra’s son Veer was playing with some of his friends in a park in the village. One of his friends told him about a forest a little far from the village, and the elders say that a horror monster lives there.
Veer gathered all his friends and told them to get ready because they were going to the forest.
The children’s ages were around 9 to 12 years.
This is a period when children explore the world, but unknown to this team, this exploration trip was going to change their lives.
Veer, Ravi, Rajaya, Kirani, and Halo—all five friends—gathered to explore the forest. After many discussions, they decided that they would go to the forest after two weeks.
During this time, they would gather resources. Halo, the chubby boy, was scared to go, but seeing his friends’ decision, he agreed.
One week passed, and everything went well until one day a woman started shouting all around the village, “He has come back! Run away! Run away! Thirty years are completed!!”
The police arrested the woman. Then some elder people and the sarpanch told Rajendra that her husband had died 30 years ago, after which she became mentally unstable.
The day had come. Ravi woke up at his house after a fight with his drunk father. His father tried to beat Ravi, but Ravi ran away.
Ravi was the one who arrived on time at their hideout. Then all the team members arrived. Their plan was simple: they would go to the forest, capture the monster, and become the heroes of the village.
They had their walkie-talkies, a compass, and slingshots.
They made a plan that they would return in a few hours.
The group entered the forest.
It was summertime, but as soon as they entered the forest, they felt an unsettling cold. Halo became afraid and said, “Let’s go back… go back.” But Ravi said, “Stop acting like a rat.”
As they went deeper into the forest, the fog started becoming thick, and Halo got separated.
Halo then saw Kirani facing a tree. As he went near her, Kirani’s head suddenly rotated, and her voice became thin. She said, “I will kill you, Halo,” and attacked him. But then a stone hit that Kirani—it was the real Kirani who attacked, and the ghost ran away.
Rajaya was deep in the forest when he heard a voice saying, “Rajaya, save me, I am stuck here.” It was his father’s voice. Hearing this, Rajaya ran straight in that direction to find his father. He saw his father standing there. As he went near him, his father hugged him tightly. Rajaya was very happy.
But then his father said, “You fool, son. Why didn’t you save them?” He held Rajaya too tightly, then broke his ribs, killing him.
The next day, the police arrived and rescued the kids from the forest.
Then Raj, the elder brother of Rajaya, ran straight to Veer’s group and shouted, “You killed my brother!”
Raj remembered his father’s last words, when he had said, “Please protect your brother.”
Now his father was gone. Rajaya loved his father very much, and their mother had left them when Rajaya was born.
Raj was completely broken.
Veer and his friends went home. Then Veer secretly took out the book that he had found in the forest. In that book, it was written: “He has awakened now. Chaos will rise in the village. Face the nightmare. It will rise for five days.”
As he continued reading, he saw a story written inside. When he read it, his blood ran cold—the story was about Rajaya.
The next day, Veer and his friends—Kirani, Ravi, and Halo—gathered together. Veer told them about the book. They were shocked to hear it, and when they read the book, they knew it was real.
On the same night, we see Raj taking out a knife and saying to himself, “I will take revenge.”
Raj went to Halo’s house and killed the sleeping Halo in his bed. He shouted, “For my brother, you devils!!!”
But when he removed the blanket, he saw that it was his brother Rajaya.
Raj cried, “No… what have I done?”
Then a black figure emerged and said, “You killed your own brother. You did not fulfill your father’s last wish. You should die… die… DIEEEEE… heh… heh… heh.”
Raj then killed himself.
The next day, Halo’s parents’ bodies were found hanging from a tree in the village, with a letter that said: “Save this village.”
Veer, Kirani, and Ravi knew that the next targets would be them.
That night, when Kirani came home, her mother hugged her too tightly and said, “The time has come.” Kirani immediately understood what was going to happen.
Ravi’s father, Jendra, drunk, shouted at his wife, “You fool! You give me disgusting food!”
He hit Ravi’s mother with a bottle, killing her. Then he said to little Ravi, “Nothing happened. Everything is fine.”
When Ravi saw his mother’s dead body, suddenly the body turned its head and said, “You killed me!!! Ravi, why didn’t you save me?”
Ravi woke up screaming. It was a dream.
Veer opened the book and saw something written inside. His blood ran cold. He immediately called Ravi and said, “Come out fast!”
They took their bicycles and went straight to Kirani’s house.
They found Kirani trying to kill herself. She was crying and told them that her mother always beat her every Saturday. Her own mother used her as a stress relief. But today she had enough, and Kirani killed her mother.
Ravi said, “I will protect you.”
Veer told his friends that the book had already written this event. Because of the book, Veer already knew that Kirani’s mother would be killed.
After that, they went to the forest to investigate and hide from the villagers.
Rumours spread throughout the village that Kirani had killed her mother and was practicing black magic. Fear grew quickly. The sarpanch gathered some villagers and called Rajendra to catch Kirani. They soon realized that the children had once again run into the forest to hide.
With this belief, the sarpanch, Rajendra, and ten villagers entered the forest, hoping to bring the children back.
But at the same time, Veer, Kirani, and Ravi came out of the forest from another side. Fear, guilt, and confusion filled their hearts. Knowing they could not face the villagers, they decided to go to a baba for help.
They reached the baba’s hut. The baba looked at them closely and said, “Sit down. Something is very wrong in this village. What has awakened here must be stopped.”
Veer handed the book to the baba. The baba began chanting powerful mantras over it. Suddenly, his face turned pale. He froze.
He could hear his own mantra being repeated—word for word—right near his ear.
Sweat poured down his face. Trembling, he whispered, “I… I… this is a Brahmarakshasa. No… this can’t be. The mantra I used is powerful enough to destroy any ghost.”
A dark, black figure appeared and said with a cruel laugh, “You fools. It has no effect on me. Heh… heh… heh.”
What Veer, Kirani, and Ravi saw next became the most brutal moment of their lives.
The baba suddenly started floating in the air. His hands and legs folded inward, twisting unnaturally like a ball. The horrifying sound of bones breaking echoed. The baba screamed in unbearable pain—his screams were so loud they could be heard across the village. Then his body caught fire, burning in midair until nothing remained.
Veer understood in that moment—they had nowhere left to run.
Suddenly, a slap hit Veer hard.
It was Nandini.
Kirani and Ravi tried to stop her, but Nandini shouted, “Shut up! I will protect my son!”
With fear and desperation in her eyes, she ran straight toward the village.
Meanwhile, deep in the forest, Ravi’s father Jendra had entered with the group of men. While walking, he saw a beautiful woman sitting near a lake, softly calling his name.
Lust took over his mind. He ran toward her.
Suddenly, the woman’s face turned ugly and monstrous. She screamed, “You killed me! I will give you a death worse than a thousand deaths!”
In an instant, a thousand black wolves attacked
Jendra, tearing him apart.
From a tree above, the black figure watched silently and laughed,
“I really enjoy these shows… heh… heh… heh.”
Meanwhile, Rajendra was deep in the forest, searching for the villagers who were getting lost one by one. The fog had grown thicker, and the silence of the forest felt unnatural.
Suddenly, he saw a little child standing near a tree.
The moment he saw the child, Rajendra’s body was covered in sweat. His heart started beating violently. He tried to run toward another direction—but after a few steps, he realized he was back at the exact same place.
He looked again.
.......
Now the child’s appearance was clearer.
It was a little girl.
Rajendra tried to take out his pistol, but his hands were shaking. The pistol slipped from his grip and fell to the ground.
Terrified, he shouted, “If this is a prank, I will kill you kids!”
A soft whisper came near his shoulder.
“If I am your sister… then why did you play that game with me that day?”
Rajendra quickly turned around—but there was no one behind him.
Before he could react, the little girl attacked him like a predator. She tore into his arm violently. Rajendra screamed and fired his pistol at her—but the bullets had no effect.
Bleeding and shaking, Rajendra cried, “I’m sorry… that day I tried to protect you, but I couldn’t!”
The girl’s voice turned cold.
“It is too late.”
She began eating him alive, piece by piece, as Rajendra’s screams echoed through the forest.
The girl spoke again, her voice filled with pain and rage:
“That day, I was screaming just like this. But you didn’t help me. You sold me when I was seven years old to a local gangster. You took money. They killed me like this in front of your eyes, brother. And you were laughing. And now you expect me to forgive you?”
Tears mixed with blood on Rajendra’s face.
“I am sorry…” he whispered weakly.
And then Rajendra took his last breath.
From the darkness, the black figure stepped forward and laughed.
“Rajendra… you have such painful memories. Do you like my illusions? Huh? It’s really funny to play mind games with you insects. Heh… heh… heh… heh…”
Meanwhile, Kirani and Ravi were planning to save Veer. They believed that Nandini, Veer’s mother, was being controlled by the devil.
As they approached Veer’s house cautiously, they noticed something strange.
The house was completely empty.
Kirani looked at Ravi and asked softly, “Why are you trying to protect me?”
Ravi looked into her eyes and said, “Because… I love you.”
He hugged her tightly. Kirani, trembling with fear and emotion, hugged him back.
Suddenly, they heard laughter.
Slow, broken laughter.
They turned toward the entrance door
.
A man was standing there.
....
.
It was Ravi’s father.
But not fully.
Half of his body was torn apart. One arm was missing. His body was covered in deep scars and wolf bite marks. Parts of his skin were ripped off, and blood was still leaking from the wounds.
This was not Ravi’s father anymore.
It was the devil.
The black figure controlling his broken body.
The body smiled unnaturally and said, “What a beautiful love story…”
Then it attacked them.
Ravi grabbed Kirani’s hand, and they ran. The creature chased them violently. They jumped through a window to escape, crashing onto the ground outside.
But what they saw next froze their blood.
Around 20 to 30 undead villagers, with broken arms and twisted bodies, were running toward them like zombies.
Kirani’s breathing became heavy. Fear filled her eyes.
But Ravi clenched his fists.
He refused to lose.
Ravi grabbed the axe that had fallen to the ground. His hands were shaking, but his eyes were burning with determination. With a loud shout he charged at the figures rushing toward them.
.....
“Kirani, run! Run for your life! Don’t turn back!” he screamed.
Kirani hesitated for a second, tears filling her eyes, but Ravi’s voice was desperate. She turned and began running into the darkness.
The creatures surrounded Ravi. In the thick fog and chaos, they looked like zombies—broken limbs, twisted faces, blood-stained clothes. Ravi swung the axe again and again. The sound of metal cutting through flesh echoed in the night. One body fell. Then another. Then another.
But the truth was far more horrifying.
The devil had tricked him.
They were not zombies.
They were villagers.
Ravi, blinded by fear and illusion, had been made to believe they were undead monsters. Around him now lay the lifeless bodies of innocent people. Blood covered his hands, his face, his clothes.
Suddenly, iron rods pierced through his body from behind. One through his shoulder. One through his side. One through his stomach.
Ravi gasped.
When Veer finally reached the scene, breathing heavily, he froze.
Ravi stood there, barely alive, holding the blood-soaked axe. Around him were corpses. His body was trembling, pierced and broken.
Their eyes met.
......
Ravi gave a faint, painful smile.
“Don’t let him catch your fear… You are our last hope…”
His grip loosened.
The axe fell.
Ravi took his final breath.
Meanwhile, Nadani was running through the village, searching desperately.
“Veer! Veer! Where are you? Come out!”
Her voice cracked with fear.
Suddenly, she saw an old man standing in the mist.
As she stepped closer, her heart stopped.
It was her father.
“No… this can’t be…” she whispered.
The old man’s body began to grow larger. His spine bent unnaturally. His teeth stretched into sharp fangs. His eyes turned black.
“Nadani…” the creature growled, voice echoing unnaturally. “Why did you kill me that day? I only sold your body to a fifty-year-old man… you were eight… only five times. Why did you kill me before the sixth?”
....
Nadani screamed, covering her ears.
“You ruined my life!” she cried.
The monster lunged at her. It tore into her brutally, dragging her across the ground. Her screams echoed through the village before slowly fading into silence. Her broken body was thrown aside, barely alive.
Moments later, she died.
When Veer reached his house and saw his mother’s lifeless body lying in blood, something inside him shattered.
Before he could even process it, the air around him grew cold.
The black figure appeared.
It was holding Kirani in one hand.
Kirani struggled, crying, reaching toward Veer.
“Veer—!”
In front of his eyes, the devil split her body in half.
Veer fell to his knees.
“NOOOOO!”
The devil tilted its head, almost amused.
“I am truly surprised,” it said. “How are you still alive? Like your name… you are brave.”
Veer stood up slowly, tears streaming down his face, fists clenched so tightly that his nails cut into his skin.
“Because I believe in God,” Veer said through his pain. “You only become powerful when people fear you. Now how will you deal with me?”
The devil laughed.
“You are an interesting piece on the chessboard. You deserve to see my true form.”
Its body began to twist and transform. Long spider-like legs tore out from its back. Its arms became skinny and stretched unnaturally, fingers growing into long, curved claws. Its mouth split wide, revealing rows of sharp, endless teeth. Its eyes glowed like burning coals.
It attacked.
Veer tried to fight back, but he quickly realized something terrible.
.....
Yes, the devil grew stronger with fear.
But when Veer stopped fearing it, the illusions began to weaken.
The monster snarled.
“You are not the first. 3,897 years ago, I killed a man who believed in God too. Heh heh heh…”
Veer closed his eyes and began whispering the Gayatri Mantra.
The devil slashed him, wounding him deeply. Blood ran down Veer’s body. The creature
grabbed him in its grip, lifting him high into the air.
“Face your nightmare!” it roared.
But this time, Veer did not scream.
He chanted louder.
With complete faith.
He stopped imagining himself in the devil’s grip.
Instead, he imagined he was in the hands of God.
The pain faded.
The darkness trembled.
The illusion cracked like shattered glass.
Suddenly—
Veer woke up in his own bed.
His body was covered in real injuries.
He stumbled outside his house.
The village was in chaos. People were crying. Some bodies were being carried away.
An elder approached him slowly.
“The devil’s power,” the elder said with a trembling voice, “is that he traps people in dreams. He becomes their worst fear. He kills them inside the dream… and their bodies die in reality.”
The elder looked at Veer carefully.
“No one ever escapes. Only a few survive… those who are strong believers in God and who conquer their fear within the dream.”
Veer looked around at the mourning village.
The curse had taken many lives.
“And this devil…” the elder whispered, voice shaking, “is the ancient curse of Kankurganchi village… Kankurtara.”
The wind howled through the trees.
But somewhere in that wind…
A faint, distant laugh could still be heard.
veer seeing the burning bodies of his friends said "I WILL REVENGE".
