The Defender…………………….

It was a Sunday evening and very crucial for Rajesh. He was sitting in his bedroom alone and thinking about his plans. Rajesh Kumar Das is about of friends, who always support him for anything whether it is wrong or right. Rajesh belong to a good family and his father was a renowned writer and professor. His mother was a house wife . His two elder brothers were well settled in their profession and life. Rajesh was been in different professions, but never stuck to any due to his dishonesty and unfairness. But always he has many things to say to defend himself and still continuing to do so.

Rajesh was the youngest in the family. He was having all the care, love and affections from each family members. He had taken the advantages of this and started spoiling his carrier. His mother was very much protective and was giving her full support to him for anything he used to do. During his childhood time Rajesh used skip classes in school, he used to tell big lies, even he developed some bad habits. All these were been instead of being corrected was supported and protected by his mother. This had given him more encouragement to continue in his habits. He was very intelligent and learned the tricks to defend his mistakes and wrong doings beautifully. He had grown with this and his bad habits had developed to a bigger height during his college life. He used to take the pride for defending himself and his friends. This had led him to the path of destructions. He never took it seriously.

During his student life once he was even arrested by police for a serious offence, but due to his family’s influence got clean chit from police. This had further encouraged him and he dared to do many more unlawful activities. He got married in late thirties in a good family and was blessed with a son. His wife was a teacher and initially she was supporting him, but when she could understand and see the real nature of Rajesh , she too thought of keeping herself away from his activities. After the death of the parents of Rajesh , his both the brothers too get away from him . They wanted to protect their image and failed in changing the mindset of Rajesh. All these had not had any effect on Rajesh. His wife Sunita too was helpless and continuing her life with him for the sake of her son’s future. But one thing was developed in Rajesh very badly.

As he was growing his self confidence was going down. This he too had realized. Always he need somebody’s help for even doing very small thing. He was in such a position that in society lost the trust of people. This was known to maximum of his old classmates and they too always tried to keep a distance from him. Then Rajesh developed the bad habit of drinking and too made him a womanizer. His income was not matching with expenses to fulfil his bad habits. Then he choose the path of earning through unfair means . This had further damaged his image in society. He was looking at his school mates and feeling shy because almost all of them were settled and doing well in their life. One of his school mate initiated after long 40 years to unite everybody and have great life with the old golden memories of past schooldays. Rajesh was too been included in that.

Though maximum of his old school mates know about his doings, no body wanted to make it public at this age of life. They thought may be Rajesh will change his habits. They arranged for a get-together and it was a very nice day for all. Rajesh had taken that as an opportunity and with his tricks tried to impress all through giving his helping hand in all arrangements. He was successful in that. All were impressed. All the mates decided to create a corpus fund with everybody’s contribution. That initiative was made by all and as Rajesh was not been busy with any profession given the charge to collect and deposit in the newly formed account. The account was opened in their batch name and along with Rajesh one more mate were the joint signatories. Then the real game plan of Rajesh started. He had utilize this opportunity and taken the advantages for utilizing this fund. The amount was very large. He had tried to convince the other mate to utilize this fund, but as he had not agreed then with the help of his close aid he opened another account along with his close aid as joint signatory in another bank. All these he had done very carefully. This was an illegal activity, but none of his school mates who had contributed had time or scope to raise any question.

But after some days this had become a big news. Others started to raise questions on it. At that moment Rajesh too had utilized a portion of that fund in his personal work. His wife Sunita too was busy in her work. She had kept her savings for the future study of her son. The school mates wanted to know the details of whole deposits, reasons for change of bank and account and expenses. Even Rajesh very intelligently shown one expenses on charity without anybody’s approval. He had diverted some funds to alumni association of school, but it was too not reflected in their deposits. There were so many factors, which had forced all the school mates to call for a meeting and take the details. Rajesh was informed about it and it will be held after one day.

Now Rajesh is planning how to defend his activities. He was doing it from his childhood. Those time his mother was with him. But now he has to do it all alone. He was not feeling guilty about it, rather interested to defend himself. 

He now talked to his four close aids and blind supporters and made the plan. He planted them to make communications among others in favor of Rajesh and they put Rajesh before all that for the sake of the prestige of their batch Rajesh had done it in an urgency. Even they created an atmosphere of having piety on Rajesh. Now Rajesh started thinking some alternative plan to defend himself………. His wife Sunita was very upset and with pains asked Rajesh ,’’ how many days, with how many people and with how many lies you will be defending yourself ? Is it a football match? why are you not taking the life seriously? Do you think that you are the champion defender? Don’t you feel ashamed of it ? Then Sunita left the place with anger and tears in her eyes. Rajesh kept quit and looked at Sunita leaving the room. He started thinking ….,’’ Am I not right ? I am The Defender, I will face it….”. There was a naughty smile on his face with a wicked look in his eyes…….
