Ruling Cats and Dogs!

The phrase 'raining cats and dogs' is well known to everyone. But have you ever heard the phrase "ruling cats and dogs"? This is a bizarre and puzzling statement. Imagine you live in a world ruled by cats and dogs. I suppose indirectly they are ruling people's hearts, but seriously, would it be funny or heartbreaking if, instead of Queen Elizabeth, Queen Catizabeth died and there was a catful mourning? Well, that would be heartbreaking and amusing at the same time! This story is based on this comical statement.

In a town full of strange people, there was King Napanthesis the Doberman. He was a corrupt addition to his outrageous nature, the king was also a pleasure-taker. This town was called Weirdezon. The people here were humans, but they worshipped dogs. They believed that the Doberman was the most powerful of all dogs and was granted special abilities by the gods. King Napanthesis took advantage of this, using his power to rule over the people of Weirdezon with an iron fist. He even made it a law that all the Dobermans in Weirdezon had to wear tiaras! Despite his tyrannical rule, King Napanthesis was beloved by the people of Weirdezon, who saw him as a protector and defender of their strange customs. When King Napanthesis ventured out in public, it was quite a sight to behold. Not only did he have his royal entourage, but all the Dobermans had to strut around in their tiaras, looking quite regal and majestic! They even started to practice their royal wave and perfected the art of barking in a high-pitched royal tone!

Another town named Metaresis ruled by a pretty and majestic cat named Queen Pariatesis the Persian cat. She was a cat of mighty words and a kind and loving ruler. She treated all her subjects equally and was loved by all. Queen Pariatesis was an exceptional cat because she was so well-respected and loved that all her subjects took her behaviour as a cue for their own. For example, when she sneezed, they followed in kind.

One day, the king of Weirdezon and the queen of Metaresis met at a dog and cat-wide seminar. The two decided to join hands and become friends. After some time, the two towns who had earlier become great friends fought over a pet store which fell in the middle of the two towns. This pet store was special since it had a lot of unique stuff for cats and dogs. So they were fighting about whether it lay in Weirdezon or in Metaresis. They also fought over whether it should turn into a complete dog store or a complete cat store. A pet-ish fight indeed. After long negotiations, they finally agreed to make it a pet store where cats and dogs would be equally welcome. They also decided to share the profits equally. This brought an end to the pet-ish fight and the two towns continued to be great friends. However, not long after the store opened, it became clear that the cat side was making significantly more money than the dog side. The dog owners started to feel cheated and resentful, and the pet-ish fight started all over again. As a solution, the two sides decided to put a cap on the profits from the cat side and to use the excess profits to invest in the dog side of the store. This seemed to satisfy both sides, and the pet-ish fight finally ended.

Of course, this is just a fantasy and thankfully, cats and dogs are still just our beloved pets. The phrase 'ruling cats and dogs' is a humorous alternative to 'raining cats and dogs' and is a reminder that no matter how strange and whimsical things get, cats and dogs will always be near and dear to us.
