Recognizing Constraints

I spent almost half of my life as a teacher, at a college in Mumbai. I enjoyed interacting with the students from varied backgrounds.

Whenever I sit down to pen something, those memories come back to me.

The college where I worked was renowned for its discipline. Students had to attend frequent class tests.

During one such test series, I noticed that one of my 'scholar students' couldn’t score well in my paper. As the class teacher, I observed his similar performance in many other subjects. I was curious!

In our conversation, the student revealed, “Ma’am, I am tutoring some students in my neighbourhood. Last week they too were having their exams. So, I had to focus on them.”

At that moment, I developed immense respect for him. At a young age, he displayed such responsibility and dedication.

Since then, even though I've moved on from teaching, that conversation remains etched in my memory, continuously reminding me of the dedication and resilience the young individuals often possess.
