Nurturing Our Young Ones
Nurturing Our Young Ones

Recently, I had the chance to watch Rita Pierson's TED Talk titled 'Every Kid Needs a Champion.' Her words deeply moved me: “Every child deserves a champion - an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best they can possibly be.”
These words immediately brought to mind a memorable experience during a Parent-Teacher meeting at my son's primary school.
During discussions about academic progress, a parent, eager to prepare their child for the Mathematics Olympiad, sought guidance from our class teacher, who also taught mathematics. Instead of recommending advanced books, the teacher shared a vivid perspective in my memory.
She emphasized, “Our kids are just a few years old. It's their time to explore and learn about the world. We should support them in effective communication. Let’s prioritize reading to them and inspire confidence in their reading.”
This incident highlights adults' crucial role in creating a nurturing environment for their growth, emphasizing the significance of factors beyond mere academic achievements. I firmly believe in the importance of communication skills in a child's development. While academic success is important, fostering robust communication skills from an early age establishes a foundation for success in both personal and professional aspects.
