Original is worth better than a copy

We all friends were just sitting and discussing a few topics related to our careers and future prospectus. Each and every one put forth their views. Then came a girl who tried to speak in some another manner. It seemed she was nervous. We relaxed her that there was no need to fear from the seniors, as she was a first year student; instead when you would share your thoughts we will be able to guide you better. She acted as if she knew everything and was a bit proudly as she secured good grades. She gave some weird reaction to what we said to her earlier. Then we realised that she wants to express herself but she’s not that comfortable.

Then we asked her what her problem was. She didn’t shared anything but just boasted about her achievements. She mentioned one thing that she was greatly inspired by some great speaker. At that time we realized she might be trying to copy so and so person, the accent and the style of saying. That was the reason she wasn’t comfortable speaking out her heart. We guided her and explained her, but that was of no use. Then it was the time when there were few events were given to us (we seniors). We decided to give all the freshers a chance and a platform to open up themselves. The event was a success and we had the winners and runner ups.

After the events were over, the girl came to us with guilt on her face. She said she was sorry. We knew she was upset because she didn’t win any of the competitions. We then made her calm and explained to her that it is alright to have inspirations and role models in life. It is good that we follow their principles or discipline. But when to comes to our own self, it is necessary that we only be our original self. We do not need to copy others. Many of them who won, didn’t copy others, instead, they just executed their own selves. When we are us, our minds open up to adapt new things to explore, we feel free to speak our heart out and we become more fearless and confident at our own qualities. This won’t happen if we keep copying and keep following others. Be your own self because original is always valued more than a Xeroxed copy. She understood each and everyone has their own identity to create and she also started her route, a new route towards exploring her original self!
