Never meet again

So, the story begins with a girl who is very stubborn. She doesn’t listen to anyone; she only knows how to follow her heart. But her heart is very kind and pure. Still, she doesn’t want anyone to see that she is a good person.

In her family, she has three sisters, one brother, and her parents. Her family had always lived happily, but they had no idea that something else was written in their destiny

Zoya: who was a stubborn girl, had faced many hardships in life. Life had treated her badly in many ways, but she never gave up. She didn’t care about what people said or thought about her; she only cared about her family.

However, she loved someone who was her neighbor. He loved her too. His name was Kersa.

Kersa : had always been a quiet person, someone who never took a stand. He could never go against his family.

Zoya,: on the other hand, was different. She knew how to stand up for herself because she believed that those who cannot stand up for themselves can never help others.

But Kersa: had a different nature. He didn’t think like that. He believed that with patience, everything can be achieved, and he used to say this to

Zoya: as well. They had been together for five years.

Zoya: wanted their relationship to be formalized through marriage. But Kersa : always said, “Be patient.” She would ask him, “How much more patience? Until today, your family hasn’t even talked to my family.”

In Kersa’s family, he had three sisters and two brothers. He knew very well that his mother didn’t like Zoya because she thought Zoya was not suitable for Kersa. But Kersa didn’t think that way.

Kersa’s mother’s name was Rafiza Begum. She wanted Kersa to marry his uncle’s daughter,

but: Kersa didn’t want that. He loved Zoya. Rafiza Begum tried to explain this to Kersa every day, but he didn’t listen. Whenever he realized that his mother had no interest in

Zoya,: he still remained silent.

Now let’s talk about Kersa’s sister. She was a graduate and was doing a job. She had studied at the same university as Zoya, but they were never friends. They knew each other, but their thinking never matched, so they could never become close.

One of Kersa’s: brothers was in school, and the other was studying at a university.

Kersa: himself had a job in a good company and earned a good salary

Now let’s talk about Zoya’s family. Her brother was studying at a university. One of her sisters was also in university, and another was in school. Zoya’s family was not as strict as kersa family

One night, Zoya: was again talking to Kersa about the same issue. This time she was a little upset because five years had passed, and Kersa’s: family still didn’t even know about their relationship.

Zoya: tried to make Kersa understand this.

But..Kersa’s : answer was always the same: “Whatever happens will happen at the right time.” He still didn’t want to take a stand.

The next day, Zoya gets ready to go to university, thinking deeply about what is really in Kersa’s heart. She keeps wondering why he never knows how to take a stand for her. With all these thoughts in her mind, she prepares herself for university.

Now let’s talk about Zoya’s mother, who is a woman with a very kind heart.

Zoya’s: mother’s name is Zara Begum. She has always taught her children good values and manners. She shares a good, friendly relationship with Rafiza Begum. However, she doesn’t know that Zoya and Kersa like each other.

Rafiza Begum has always had a good relationship with Zara Begum and has been a decent neighbor. But her biggest concern is that Kersa might go against her wishes. Because of this fear, she often tells Kersa that Zara Begum’s family is not financially stable.

But the reality is quite different.

Kersa: knows the truth, but he doesn’t want to accept it. He is always afraid that he might hurt his family’s feelings. He keeps convincing himself that staying silent is the best option.

On the other hand, Zoya always thinks about how she can win Kersa’s family’s hearts. She puts in a lot of effort, but still, she fails to make a place for herself in their hearts.

Zoya’s sister, Aira,: is very innocent. Whatever she says, she speaks the truth. Because of this habit, people often scold her, as she ends up creating problems in front of relatives. She can never lie, no matter the situation.

Zoya :sits in her class, studying, thinking that maybe one day Kersa will finally talk to his family. Her mind is full of questions, but she has no answers.

Kersa,: on the other hand, thinks that Zoya doesn’t try to understand him, that she ignores his words, and that she is immature.

Now let’s talk about Kersa’s brother, Mohid, who is a sensible person. He goes to university and also helps with household responsibilities.

Mohid: is a good young man and helps Zoya a lot. He knows everything about Zoya and Kersa. However, he has one very bad habit—he is extremely suspicious. He doubts everything. He stops his sisters from doing many things and is very controlling. He is also a very close friend of Zoya’s brother.

On the other side, Zoya’s brother is very different. He allows his sisters to do everything freely. He believes that it is their life, and they are the owners of their own choices. Zoya’s brother’s name is Ali.

Ali: wants to do business in life. He never had much interest in studies, but he still continues studying because he wants to become successful in business. He listens to all his sisters and respects their opinions. However, he is unaware of many things that Mohid knows very well.

Kersa had another sister whose name was Hunaria.

Hunaria : was a very good and intelligent girl. She was more sensible than her younger sister and understood situations well, but she was somewhat selfish and mostly thought about herself. Hunaria was already engaged to Zoya’s cousin, Hashim. They liked each other, and their engagement had been finalized.

Hunaria didn’t like talking to anyone unless it was for her own benefit. She did have a fairly good friendship with Zoya and even liked her as a person, but she never openly supported Zoya. In some matters, she stood by Zoya, and in others, she didn’t.

Kersa’s other sister was named Minal.

Minal : was extremely selfish. She believed that not everything should be shared with everyone because people might cast an evil eye. She loved Kersa very much and could never tolerate seeing him share affection with anyone else. Even though she was his sister, she was extremely possessive about him. She also had a very good friendship with Zoya’s youngest sister.

Zoya’s youngest sister was named Nehal.

Nehal : was very intelligent. She could easily understand who was lying and who was telling the truth. She had always been waiting to start her own business, and when she finally did, it turned out to be very successful with great sales. She wasn’t very interested in studies, but her mind was very sharp.

So, these were the characters that you will see in this story of Zoya and Kersa.

Now the focus returns to Zoya.

Zoya shares all these things with her friend Ayesha—what Kersa had said to her. Ayesha studies with Zoya and is her very good friend. She understands Zoya well.

Ayesha:

“I think Kersa should take a stand, because if he can’t take a stand today, then he won’t be able to take one tomorrow either.”

Zoya:

“That’s exactly what I’ve been telling Kersa—that at least we both should be on one side. But he doesn’t want to understand anything. He always ends the conversation by calling me immature, and then he gets angry. In his eyes, I always become the one at fault.”

Ayesha:

“He should try to understand this, but I think you should think about it once more. I feel that Kersa will never go against his family.”

Zoya:

“Sometimes I think the same, but then I just fall silent.”

Ayesha:

“For now, relax and forget about all these things. Focus on your studies—the exams are coming.”

Zoya:

“Hmm, you’re right.”

Ayesha:

“Come on, let’s go out somewhere so your mood gets better.”

Zoya:

“Alright, let’s go. My mood is already very upset anyway.”

Meanwhile, Kersa’s father, who lived in another city because of his business, was coming home that day.

Kersa’s father’s name was Abdullah.

Abdullah was a strict man. He wanted everything to be done on time. He had a very bad habit of checking things again and again. Because of this habit, Rafiza Begum was always worried and irritated, but Abdullah didn’t care at all.

On the other hand, Zoya’s father was a kind-hearted man. His name was Khalid Sahab. He spoke politely with everyone and believed that not everything in life could be controlled. He took life seriously, but not in every situation. Because of this habit, Zara Begum often told him to be more serious in life, but he never really listened. He allowed his children to talk about everything freely, but always within limits.

Kersa was returning home, thinking about what he should say to Zoya and how he should make her understand. He felt that Zoya didn’t understand things, thought too much, and got angry very easily. “What should I do about this girl?” he thought. While thinking this, Kersa called Zoya.

Zoya:

“Yes, Kersa. You called me?”

Kersa:

“Are you upset with me, Zoya?”

Zoya:

“No. How can I be upset? I don’t even have that right. That right belongs only to you.”

Kersa:

“What are you saying? Hmm… it seems last night’s conversation still hasn’t left your mind.”

Zoya:

“No, it left my mind a long time ago. I’ve been hearing the same answer for years.”

Kersa:

“So what should I do? You don’t want to understand anything. You only want things your own way. You don’t give me any importance.”

Zoya:

“Wow, Kersa. That’s something I should have said to you—that you don’t give me any importance. And you’re putting this blame on me.”

Kersa:

“Yes, I am, because that’s the truth. You don’t have any patience at all. You’re an immature girl who can’t see anything beyond her stubbornness—not even our relationship.”

Zoya:

“Yes, you’re right, Kersa. But you know what? You don’t want to see the truth. You never want to take a stand. It took you five years to say even one thing that is related to our relationship.”

Kersa:

“I think you need to change your behavior. Otherwise, our relationship won’t move forward. You’ll have to change yourself.”

Zoya:

“Why, Kersa? Just because you want me to change? What’s wrong with my behavior? Tell me—what should I change?”

Kersa:

“You’ll never see your own flaws. Have you ever noticed how rude and disrespectful you can be? You speak without thinking. I’ve never liked these things about you.”

Zoya:

“At least I’m real the way I am. I don’t lie. I only become rude when the other person is rude first. You’ve always found me rude. You always have the same complaint against me. Whenever I talk about our relationship, you never try to understand my feelings—you just keep lecturing me.”

Kersa:

“So should I not even tell you the truth now? I say all this considering it my right. Change yourself a little. You’re always thinking negative things.”

Zoya:

“You’re right, Kersa. You’ve known me for so many years, and if I had so many flaws, then why did you fall in love with me? Sometimes I feel like you want to control me.”

Kersa:

“There you go again with your useless talk—emotional blackmail. Whenever I say something to you, you start emotionally blackmailing me. I’m fed up with you.”

Zoya:

“Fine then. We shouldn’t talk to each other anymore.”

After saying this, Zoya hangs up the phone and starts crying. At the same time, Kersa also hangs up the phone angrily.

The next morning, when Zoya woke up, her mother suddenly asked her a few questions.

Zara Begum:

“Zoya, what happened to you? I heard voices coming from your room last night. You were shouting while talking to someone.”

Zoya was shocked. She started thinking, What if Ammi heard my conversation with Kersa?

She replied, “No, Ammi, I wasn’t talking to anyone.”

Zara Begum:

“Are you telling the truth? If there’s something, tell me.”

Zoya:

“No, Ammi, there’s nothing. I’m leaving for university now—I’m getting late.”

Zara Begum:

“Hmm, alright. Go to university. And yes, I’m going to the market today with Rafiza Begum. Do you want anything from the market?”

Zoya:

“No, Ammi, I don’t need anything.”

Zara Begum:

“You’re saying this today? You, who loves shopping so much? I don’t believe it. Something must have happened.”

Zoya:

“No, Ammi, nothing happened. Today I just don’t need anything. Please don’t think too much.”

Zara Begum:

“Alright then.”

Meanwhile, Zoya was leaving for university with Minal when they suddenly met Kersa downstairs.

Minal:

“Brother, why haven’t you gone to the office yet? What are you doing downstairs? Are you waiting for someone?”

Kersa:

“No, nothing like that. I was just about to leave. I’m waiting for a friend.”

Minal:

“Hmm, alright. Zoya and I are going to university. We’ll see you later.”

Kersa:

“Yes, alright. Go carefully.”

Zoya looked at Kersa, but she was sad from the inside. She kept remembering the words Kersa had said to her.

Kersa was thinking that Zoya must be thinking negatively again. When will this habit of hers end? he wondered.

Just then, the rickshaw arrived. Zoya and Minal left for university, and Kersa left for the office.

Now the scene shifts to Rafiza Begum and Zara Begum.

Zara Begum:

“Rafiza, are you ready? We have to go early today. We have a lot of work to do.”

Rafiza Begum:

“Oh my! You’re always in a hurry. Let’s shop comfortably—we have to buy many things.”

Talking like this, both of them reached the market. They sat down in a shop to buy dresses and started looking at clothes.

Rafiza Begum:

“I really like this dress. Look, Zara Begum—how do you find it?”

Zara Begum:

“It’s nice, but the color isn’t good. Choose a lighter color.”

Rafiza Begum:

“You never like my choices. I’ll buy this one.”

Zara Begum:

“Alright, you buy that one. I’m buying this one—I really like it for Zoya. And this one is for Aira and Nehal.”

Rafiza Begum:

“How many clothes your daughters buy! Zoya especially buys too many clothes. She wastes a lot of money.”

Zara Begum:

“So what? Zoya likes shopping.”

Rafiza Begum:

“Yes, too much. It’s wasteful. Money shouldn’t be wasted. You should explain this to Zoya.”

Zara Begum:

“She’ll improve with time. She’s sensible.”

Rafiza Begum:

“Yes, but her mind is a little spoiled.”

Zara Begum:

“Leave these बातें. Let’s continue shopping.”

Rafiza Begum:

“I’m buying this dress for my brother’s daughter. I like her for Kersa.”

Zara Begum:

“Oh, so that means you’re choosing her for Kersa?”

Rafiza Begum:

“Yes, I like her for Kersa.”

Zara Begum:

“That’s a good thing.”

Now the scene shifts to the university. Zoya was sitting in her class when a new boy joined. His name was Fahad.

Fahad studied in Zoya’s class and had just joined the university. As soon as he entered the class, the teacher said to him, “Do you know about your department?”

Fahad:

“Yes, sir. I know. Zoya is the CR of your class.”

Teacher:

“Yes, Zoya. You tell him about the department.”

Zoya:

“Hmm, yes sir.”

Fahad:

“Hey, Zoya, you are the CR of this department.”

Zoya:

“Hey Fahad, are you new to this university, or were you already here? I mean, I’ve never seen you before.”

Fahad:

“I was studying here earlier, but I hadn’t been coming to the university for the past few months. Now I’ll be regular.”

Zoya:

“Yes, you should come regularly, because our department has strict attendance issues. Otherwise, you won’t be allowed to sit in the exams.”

Fahad:

“Oh, I see. I didn’t know this before. It’s good that you told me.”

Zoya:

“Yes, that’s why I told you—so you remember it.”

Fahad:

“Thank you, Zoya.”

Zoya:

“It’s okay. I don’t need a thank you.”

Fahad:

“Hmm, can you tell me about the classes?”

Zoya:

“Yes, why not? I’ll explain.”

They had a good conversation. Zoya explained everything to Fahad, and Fahad understood it well.

Minal:

“Zoya, what was Fahad talking to you about?”

Zoya:

“He was just asking me about the classes, nothing else.”

Minal:

“So couldn’t he ask someone else? Why was he asking you?”

Zoya:

“Because I’m the CR, that’s why he asked me. There’s nothing else.”

Minal:

“Hmm, that makes sense. Come on, let’s go now. Everyone is making a plan to go out for breakfast.”

Zoya:

“You go. I don’t want to go—my mood isn’t good.”

Minal:

“Whenever I ask you, your mood is never good.”

Zoya:

“Oh come on, it’s nothing like that. I just don’t feel like going.”

Minal:

“Come on now, Zoya. I’m telling you.”

Zoya:

“Alright, fine. Let’s go.”

Minal:

“Good. That’s better.”

Now the scene shifts to Kersa.

Kersa is thinking to himself that Zoya has so much ego. She saw me this morning and still didn’t say anything. It’s like I have no importance in her life at all.

Just then, Kersa’s brother-in-law comes to meet him. He knows everything about Kersa and Zoya.

Hashmi:

“Kersa, how are you? I had some work with you.”

Kersa:

“I’m fine, Hashmi. How are you? Yes, tell me—what is it?”

Hashmi:

“I need some money. Can you give it to me?”

Kersa:

“Yes, I’ll give it to you, but why do you need it? Where did your salary go?”

Hashmi:

“My salary got finished in household expenses. Give it to me for now—I’ll return it later.”

Kersa:

“Alright, fine.”

Hashmi:

“Thank you, Kersa.”

Kersa:

“No problem.”

They talk about random things for a while, and then Hashmi asks something.

Hashmi:

“Kersa, when are you getting engaged?”

Kersa:

“Why are you suddenly asking this, Hashmi? Is everything okay?”

Hashmi:

“Yes, Kersa. I just asked casually. Mine is done, so I thought I’d ask when you’re doing yours.”

Kersa:

“I’m not getting married right now. I don’t want to.”

Hashmi:

“Kersa, can I ask you something? How do you find Zoya? Don’t you think you both would look good together?”

Kersa:

“Zoya… I don’t know. I’ve never really thought about it like that.”

Hashmi:

“Oh, you should think about it. She’s a good girl, and you both would look nice together.”

Kersa:

“Hmm… we’ll see.”

Hashmi:

“Alright.”

The scene cuts to Hunaria, where Hunaria and Hashmi are talking on the phone.

Hashmi:

“I met Kersa today, and we talked about many things.”

Hunaria:

“What did you talk about with Kersa?”

Hashmi:

“Nothing special. I asked him if he likes any girl.”

Hunaria:

“And what did Kersa reply?”

Hashmi:

“He said he doesn’t like anyone. I even mentioned a girl to him.”

Hunaria:

“You mentioned a girl to Kersa?”

Hashmi:

“Yes. I told him that Zoya would be very good for him, and that he should marry her. They would make a nice couple.”

Hunaria:

“Oh, Zoya. Yes, they would look good together. But what did Kersa say?”

Hashmi:

“He said he doesn’t want to marry anyone right now. He has no interest in marriage at the moment.”

Hunaria:

“Yes, he doesn’t want to yet. He has already told Ammi that he doesn’t want to get married.”

Hashmi:

“But why doesn’t your mother think about Zoya for Kersa?”

Hunaria:

“That’s Ammi’s choice. Whoever she likes for Kersa—I can’t do anything about it.”

Hashmi:

“Yes, that’s true.”

Now the story reaches a point where Zoya is extremely worried, and Kersa believes that Zoya has too much ego and doesn’t want to understand him. But what role does Fahad play in this story? That will be revealed later.

Zoya returns home from university and starts talking to her mother.

Zara Begum:

“Zoya, I did very good shopping today.”

Zoya:

“Really, Ammi? What did you bring from the market?”

Zara Begum:

“I bought a dress for you, and dresses for Aira and Nehal as well.”

Zoya:

“Ammi, that’s really nice. Did Rafiza Aunty also buy something?”

Zara Begum:

“Yes, she bought dresses too and many other things, but today she told me something.”

Zoya:

“What, Ammi? What did she say?”

Zara Begum:

“She said that she has chosen her brother’s daughter for Kersa, and she was buying a dress for her today.”

Zoya was shocked. For two minutes, she couldn’t even understand what she had just heard. She stood up and went straight to her room and called Kersa.

Kersa:

“Yes, Zoya. You called?”

Zoya:

“Kersa, I need to meet you right now. It’s very important. Come and meet me.”

Kersa:

“What happened that you need to meet me immediately?”

Zoya:

“Are you coming or not? Otherwise, I’ll come to your house.”

Kersa:

“Alright, I’m coming.”

Zoya was extremely angry. She wanted to ask Kersa whether this was true or not. When Kersa came upstairs to the rooftop, Zoya asked him:

Zoya:

“Kersa, is it true that your mother is choosing her brother’s daughter for you?”

Kersa:

“What are you saying? There’s nothing like that.”

Zoya:

“Then why did your mother say this to my mother? Is it true? Were you just passing time with me?”

Kersa:

“No, nothing like that. My mother wants this, but I don’t. I’ve already told her that I won’t do it.”

Zoya:

“If you’ve already refused, then why is she saying all this? And why don’t you tell them clearly about us? What is the problem?”

Kersa:

“The problem is that you don’t want to be patient. Everything will happen in its own time. You’re always in a hurry. You don’t give me importance. You think whatever you’re doing is always right.”

Zoya:

“Why do you always say that I don’t give you importance? Sometimes I feel like I have no importance in your eyes. Why don’t you just say it clearly—that you don’t want to tell them about us?”

Kersa:

“Yes, I don’t want to tell them right now.”

Zoya:

“Fine then. From now on, I’ll only talk to you when you talk to your family about us.”

Kersa:

“See, this childish stubbornness of yours—I don’t like it. Never try to fix it. Keep this attitude. Maybe you enjoy being like this.”

English Translation:

Zoya:

“Fine. If you think I’m like this, then I’ll stay like this. I will never change myself for anyone.”

Zoya leaves from there in anger, and Kersa also goes downstairs. At that moment, Zoya receives a message from Fahad.

Fahad:

“Salam, Zoya. Can you tell me how many assignments and projects have been given so far?”

Zoya:

“Look, Fahad, don’t ask me these things right now. I’m already very angry. If I say something to you, it won’t be good, so it’s better not to ask anything right now.”

Fahad:

“Oh, what happened? Is everything okay? You’re talking like this.”

Zoya:

“Yes, everything is fine. Now hang up.”

Fahad (thinking):

“I don’t know what’s wrong with this girl. Maybe there’s some issue with her mind.”

Just then, Zara Begum comes and tells Zoya to come and eat, and to call her sisters as well.

Zoya:

“Ammi, they’ve gone to Rafiza Aunty’s house to see the shopping.”

Zara Begum:

“Alright then, go and bring them.”

Zoya:

“Yes, okay, Ammi.”

Zoya reaches Rafiza Aunty’s house and greets her.

Rafiza Begum:

“How are you, Zoya? Come, sit.”

Zoya:

“I’m fine. How are you? I didn’t come to sit—I’ve come to take Aira and Nehal.”

Rafiza Begum:

“Oh, sit for a while. You hardly ever come to our house. Visit sometimes.”

Zoya:

“Yes, of course, Aunty. Because of university studies, I don’t get much time.”

Zoya then calls out:

“Aira, Nehal, come quickly. Let’s go downstairs. Dinner is ready—Ammi is calling.”

Aira:

“Yes, I’m coming, Zoya. Wait a little.”

Nehal:

“Yes, be patient, Zoya. I’m coming.”

At that moment, Kersa says:

Kersa:

“Your sister has no patience at all. She’s full of ego and attitude.”

Zoya replies,

“Whoever wants to think whatever they want can think it. I’m completely fine. I’m not like some people who can’t even speak up for themselves.”

Rafiza Begum:

“Oh my! What happened to both of you? Why are you arguing?”

Zoya:

“No, Aunty, we’re not arguing. This kind of thing keeps happening.”

Zoya again calls out to Aira and Nehal to hurry up.

Nehal:

“Yes, we’re coming.”

Aira:

“Alright, let’s go. It’s getting late.”

Minal:

“Oh, sit for a little while. It’s not that late yet.”

Hunaria:

“Yes, sit. I’ll bring Zoya as well, and we’ll talk.”

Hunaira:

“Zoya, come inside. Let’s talk. Why aren’t you sitting?”

Zoya:

“Oh yaar, Ammi is calling. Dinner has already been served.”

Hunaira:

“Oh, nothing will happen. I just want to tell you something.”

Zoya:

“What is it, Hunaira? What happened?”

Hunaira:

“Hashmi called. He said that he asked Kersa what he thinks about you, like how Zoya seems to him, and that you and Zoya would look good together.”

Zoya:

“Oh, why did Hashmi say that to Kersa? There’s nothing like that.”

Hunaira:

“Oh, he just asked casually. Kersa said no—he isn’t interested in anyone and doesn’t want to get married right now.”

Zoya:

“Hmm, that’s true.”

Hunaira:

“Yes, that’s true, but you both would look good together.”

Zoya:

“Tell this to your brother.”

Hunaira:

“Oh no, he never listens to me anyway.”

Zoya:

“Hmm, right.”

Just then, Aira and Nehal tell Zoya, “Let’s go home,” and the three of them go home together

The next morning, Zoya and Ayesha meet.

Zoya:

“Ayesha, listen… yesterday I said some things in anger.”

Ayesha:

“That’s your daily routine. What’s new in it?”

Zoya:

“No, this time it’s different. I don’t know what all I said to Fahad in anger.”

Ayesha:

“What? Seriously? What did you say to him?”

Zoya:

“Oh yaar, don’t even ask. I was coming after fighting with Kersa, my mood was really upset, so I ended up saying a lot to Fahad in anger.”

Ayesha:

“You shouldn’t have done that. You took out your anger at Kersa on Fahad. You should say sorry.”

Zoya:

“Hmm, you’re right. I’m feeling guilty too.”

Ayesha:

“You should feel guilty. By the way, what did you fight with Kersa about?”

Zoya:

“I don’t want to talk about it, yaar. But yes, I’ve understood one thing—that I shouldn’t stay in this relationship anymore. I don’t want my self-respect to be hurt again.”

Ayesha:

“Yes, you’re right. Forget it. I’ve been trying to make you understand this for so many years, but you never listened. The one who wants to take a stand actually does it; they don’t make excuses. You should move on.”

Zoya:

“But yaar, it hurts. I gave him everything, but he never even noticed it.”

Ayesha:

“It’s okay, I understand. But you have to face things, and you need to take some time and think about this relationship.”

Zoya:

“I think this time you’re right. I really want a break. Anyway, let’s go to class.”

Ayesha:

“We’re already late—but you still have to apologize to Fahad.”

Zoya:

“Oh yes, I remember.”

As soon as Zoya enters the class, she starts looking for Fahad. Just then, Fahad speaks from behind.

Fahad:

“Were you looking for me, Zoya?”

Zoya:

“Hmm, Fahad, how did you know I was looking for you?”

Fahad:

“Because the way you talked to me last night, I thought maybe this morning you’d come and break my face.”

Zoya:

“Haha, no. My mood wasn’t good last night, and your message came at that time, so I took out my anger on you.”

Fahad:

“So that means I’m a machine made to handle your anger?”

Zoya:

“Oh, absolutely not. I’m sorry for that. It won’t happen again.”

Fahad:

“Don’t be sorry. I hope everything is fine—otherwise no one can survive your anger. You’re dangerous.”

Zoya:

“Seriously? You think I’m dangerous? I think I’m very innocent.”

Fahad:

“Hahaha, that was a good joke. It was funny—but I didn’t laugh.”

Zoya:

“Hmm, now you’re making fun of me.”

Fahad:

“Oh, where do I have that much courage to make fun of you?”

Zoya:

“Hmm, I liked that fear.”

Zoya and Fahad started developing a good friendship. They used to talk to each other, Fahad began to understand Zoya’s words, and Zoya also started smiling again. But Kersa didn’t like this at all. One day—

Kersa calls Zoya.

Zoya:

“Yes, Kersa, you called—everything okay?”

Kersa:

“Yes, everything’s fine. You’ve forgotten me, haven’t you?”

Zoya:

“How could I forget you?”

Kersa:

“You really have forgotten me. You don’t talk to me, you don’t call me. You don’t care about me at all. You’ve become so busy.”

Zoya:

“I haven’t become busy. I’ve just kept some distance from you so that I don’t keep disturbing you again and again. You yourself told me to be patient, so that’s exactly what I’m doing.”

Kersa:

“Yes, I know all this. Now you’re taunting me because I still haven’t talked to my family. Zoya, when will you get some sense? When will you understand things? Be a little mature—don’t take life like a joke.”

Zoya:

“Kersa, do you really think I take life like a joke? I’m very serious about life. But maybe you were never serious about me. Why do you keep saying these things to me all the time? It hurts me.”

Kersa:

“I say these things for your own good, but you don’t understand. You don’t even have sense.”

Zoya:

“Kersa, I’m not a child. I understand everything. Can you please stop? I don’t want to hear any more. I’m tired of listening to this. Next time, call me only when you’ve talked to your family. Otherwise, just give me a clear answer so I can step aside.”

Kersa:

“See, you’ve started the same thing again. I can’t talk about it right now. I’ll talk after Hunaira’s wedding. If I talk now, Dad will get angry at me, and I don’t want to upset him.”

Zoya:

“Fine, as you wish.”

Zoya hangs up the phone and goes to sleep for university. Meanwhile, Kersa also puts the phone down and says to himself, “When will she ever get some sense?”

The next morning, Rafiza Begum says that now they should arrange Hunaira’s marriage to Hashmi. These discussions are happening early in the morning.

Rafiza Begum:

“Abdullah Sahib, Hashmi’s mother called. She says we should get Hunaira and Hashmi married.”

Abdullah Sahib:

“No, not yet. I will get both my sons and my daughter married together. Kersa’s marriage should happen as well.”

Rafiza Begum:

“But Kersa doesn’t want to get married right now. He wants to go abroad.”

Abdullah Sahib:

“What will he even do by going abroad? He already has a good job here. There’s no real need.”

Rafiza Begum:

“These are exactly the things that hurt Kersa the most, and you still don’t understand him.”

Abdullah Sahib:

“Bring me tea. I don’t have time for useless talk.”

The scene cuts and moves to Zara Begum and Khalid Sahib.

Zara Begum:

“Khalid Sahib, I was thinking that Zoya has grown up now. We should start looking for a proposal for her.”

Khalid Sahib:

“She’s not that grown up yet. Let her complete her studies first.”

Zara Begum:

“This is exactly the age for it. We should look for a good family for her.”

Khalid Sahib:

“No, leave it for now. We’ll see after she finishes her studies.”

Zara Begum:

“Yes, I know—you love your daughters so much. Of course you won’t agree so easily.”

Khalid Sahib:

“Hmm, that’s also one reason.”

Now the story moves to the university, where Fahad says:

Fahad:

“I’m feeling really scared about giving the presentation.”

Zoya:

“Fahad, why are you so scared? It’s just a presentation. What’s so difficult about it? Just say what you know.”

Fahad:

“This is easy for you to say, but it’s difficult for me.”

Zoya:

“It’s not like I give presentations every day. I give them sometimes too. If you want, I can help you.”

Fahad:

“Yes, please help me. I really need it.”

Zoya:

“Alright, I’ll explain to you how to give it.”

Just then, Minal comes and starts noticing Zoya and Fahad together. Later, she goes home and talks to Kersa about it. Kersa starts thinking that Zoya isn’t talking to him anymore because she has found Fahad.

Kersa:

“Minal, did you see Zoya and Fahad together?”

Minal:

“Yes, brother, I saw them. It seemed to me that they like each other.”

Kersa:

“No, that can’t be true.”

Minal:

“Why can’t it be? Is there some reason? Or is it that you don’t like Zoya yourself?”

Kersa:

“No, no, it’s nothing like that. You’re misunderstanding.”

Minal:

“It would be better if that were true. Zoya is very rude and has a lot of attitude.”

Kersa:

“Alright, you go to your room.”

Minal:

“Okay, I’m going.”

Kersa then calls Zoya and asks her to come upstairs to the rooftop because he wants to talk. Zoya feels happy, thinking that Kersa has called her up.

Scene on the rooftop

Zoya:

“Yes, I’ve come, Kersa. Tell me, what’s the matter? You called me.”

Kersa:

“Oh, you’re not one of those who remember people—you’re one of those who hurt hearts.”

Zoya:

“What do you mean by that, Kersa?”

Kersa:

“I mean, tell me—who is this Fahad, with whom you’ve been looking very happy these days?”

Zoya:

“Fahad is my class fellow. And what’s wrong if I talked to him a little? What problem is there in that?”

Kersa:

“What problem? There are nothing but problems. You know I don’t like you talking to boys. Whenever I see you, you’re chatting with someone. You like it when boys talk to you. From now on, you won’t talk to that boy, nor to any other boy. Just leave the university.”

Zoya:

“Kersa, have you gone mad? What nonsense are you talking? You’re saying whatever comes to your mind without thinking. Don’t you realize you’re accusing me? You should be ashamed.”

Kersa:

“Oh please, don’t give me that emotional blackmail lecture you give me every time. I don’t want to hear it.”

Zoya:

“Alright. Now I feel there’s no room left for anything between us. And I can’t leave university—this is my final year, and I want to complete it and then get a job.”

Kersa:

“You don’t need a job. Your future is with me, so don’t worry. I won’t allow you to work.”

Zoya:

“Why won’t you allow me? I want to work—that’s my choice.”

Kersa:

“I’ve said no, so it’s no. Don’t argue with me. And you will change yourself. You have three months to change yourself, otherwise don’t talk to me.”

Zoya:

“I will never change myself for anyone.”

Zoya leaves from there angrily and cries a lot, thinking about what has happened to Kersa and why he is always trying to change her. She keeps thinking and remains worried every day.

There start to be many fights between Zoya and Kersa. In these fights, Zoya’s fault seems less, and Kersa’s more. It feels as if Kersa wants to control Zoya; he becomes toxic for her, but Kersa doesn’t seem to care.

One day — 21st April, Kersa’s birthday

Zoya brings him a very nice gift, but Kersa refuses to accept it. Zoya wishes him through a text message, but Kersa doesn’t reply.

Zoya:

“Kersa, I brought this gift for you. Happy birthday.”

Kersa:

“I don’t want the gift. I won’t take it, and I won’t accept your wish either. I won’t reply to it.”

Zoya:

“Kersa, please don’t fight today. I brought such a nice gift for you.”

Kersa:

“So what? I won’t take it. Take it back or throw it away somewhere. I won’t accept it.”

Kersa gives the gift to his brother, Mohid. Mohid takes the gift and reaches Zoya’s house.

Zoya:

“Mohid, why did you come?”

Mohid:

“Kersa sent this gift back. He can’t accept it.”

Zoya:

“Then throw it away somewhere, but don’t give it to me. I can’t take it.”

Mohid:

“What should I do with this gift then? You brought it.”

Zoya:

“You keep this gift yourself and use it, because this gift is no use to me anymore.”

Mohid:

“Are you serious? Should I keep it?”

Zoya:

“Yes, please keep it.”

Mohid:

“Thank you, Zoya.”

Zoya:

“Hmm, it’s okay.”

The scene shifts to Zoya, who was completely broken from the inside. She had never expected Kersa’s behavior to be so rude.

Aira:

“Zoya, what happened? Why are you crying?”

Zoya:

“I don’t want to stay here. I want to leave this place.”

Aira:

“What happened? Have you gone crazy or what? Nehal, look at her.”

Nehal:

“Yes, tell us, Zoya. Did someone say something to you? Tell us.”

Zoya:

“No, no one said anything to me. Nobody said anything. I just don’t want to stay here.”

Zoya started crying badly. Her sisters kept trying to comfort her. Zoya cried the whole night, but Kersa didn’t care at all. His ego mattered more to him than Zoya.

The next morning, Zoya quietly went to university. There, she met Fahad, and they talked.

Fahad:

“What happened, Zoya? You look upset. Is everything okay?”

Zoya:

“No, nothing is wrong. I’m fine, and I’m not sad.”

Fahad:

“It feels like you are sad. Tell me, what happened?”

Zoya:

“What would you even do by knowing?”

Then Zoya thought for a moment and asked Fahad a question.

Zoya:

“Fahad, can I ask you something?”

Fahad:

“Yes, Zoya, ask me.”

Zoya:

“What do you think—how should a person be?”

Fahad:

“A person should know how to take a stand for themselves. They should be able to speak without fear, have a strong mind, and think positively.”

Zoya:

“So you think like this, Fahad. Okay, tell me—should a person take permission from someone to study, or even to talk to others, or to do a job?”

Fahad:

“I feel like you’re testing me, but I think no one should have so much authority that they can control you. You should be the owner of your own choices—what to do and what not to do should be your decision. And as for a job, you do it so that the skills you have can be used and shared with the world.”

Zoya:

“I’m impressed. Your thinking is truly very good, Fahad. I wish everyone thought like this, but unfortunately, not everyone does.”

Fahad:

“I hope you’re okay. If you ever need me, just tell me—I’m here.”

Zoya:

“Thank you, Fahad, but I don’t need anyone anymore.”

Fahad:

“Hmm, as you wish.”

From here, Zoya decided what she had to do. She left everything behind and went somewhere else, a place from where she would return as a strong and successful person. Even while leaving, Kersa didn’t come to meet her, even though everyone else did. Rafiza Begum was also sad about Zoya leaving.

But this was Kersa’s ego—the same ego because of which he always accused Zoya of being egoistic. While leaving, Zoya kept looking for Kersa, but he never came.

Zoya left, saying that she would return only after becoming a successful person. She went to live with her aunt.

Kersa got busy with his office work. Even after Zoya left, he didn’t call her even once—not even to ask how she was. He didn’t think it was necessary.

Fahad missed Zoya at university and kept waiting for the day she would return.

Ayesha was also sad. Her conversations with Zoya became very limited, but they still stayed in touch.

Zoya’s family missed her, talked to her every day, and remembered her constantly.

But Kersa never asked about her.

This story does not end here. Many things are still yet to happen that haven’t happened so far. I’ll only say this much:

Zoya took a stand for herself and left to become something, to prove herself. Despite many hardships, she made her heart strong.

We often think life should go according to our wishes. We try to control people; instead of letting them fly, we want to keep them tied to us. In front of our ego and pride, we end up destroying relationships.

Zoya will return—with a new story. There is still more to come.
