My Country

I was a student at Sanket University, I enjoyed participating in co-curricular activities a lot though I was not that good at participating, That day which etched in my memory was an exciting day for me because it was a great event; an inter-college group discussion , The theme was 'My Country', Participants had arrived and were given due welcome and seats, I felt little nervous but also excited to be a part of the event,  

The competition began soon after the introduction of the participants, Six colleges participated, They were named A to F, The compere briefed us about the rules and the bell for opening the discussion was sounded,

I was participant 'C', Participant 'A'was handed over the mike, He said," I'm a proud Indian, My country, India ranks seventh in the list of the most beautiful countries in the world, The list is prepared after assessing the natural wonders in each of the countries, "

Participant B added,"India has the most number of languages spoken ; with 29 languages spoken by more than one million people each, We have more than 1,650 dialects, India also boasts of the largest diversity of races, "

Now was my turn to put India's glory before the August gathering, I said,"A unique land of vibrant colours, breathtaking landscapes and rich history, India is unlike any other, From the meandering streets of Mumbai to the idyllic shores of the Andaman Islands, this remarkable country offers a diverse feast for the senses, "

Participant 'D' eagerly awaited me to finish,as I did so, he said,"According to the latest research, India ranks second in the world's most popular countries that people want to visit, beating popular destinations such as Greece and Japan, "

The audience gave a thunderous clapping,

Participant' E' was ready with his description, He said,"Cows are considered sacred in my country, Nature is worshipped, Rajasthan has a Temple of Rats, India has over 300,000 mosques and over 2 million Hindu temples, We are an example of unity in diversity, "

The compere announced the last participant's name and he concluded by adding that India produces films in around 21 languages, It has emerged as the world's fifth largest economy, He has yet more to add but the time was over,

It was an eventful day, We felt so proud of our country, India is one of the best countries in the world, It has a rich heritage and culture, It is a land of festivals and celebrations, The glory of my country can not be summed up in few words,
