Mongoose

Once upon a time a man lived in a jungle with his wife. Soon they had a child and he decided to have a pet as a companion to their son as well as to protect their child. He found a mongoose in the jungle and took him home. Although his wife was sceptical of it but as the child grew up loving it and the mongoose too was very friendly. So, she accepted him but deep down she still had doubts abut it.

One day, she went to market, leaving the child with his father but after some time, he too had to leave. So he left the house with the child under mongoose's care. His wife returned from market to find the mongoose standing on the door. She saw its mouth had blood. Thinking he had attacked her son, she threw stone at him and ran to her child's room. To her surprise, he was peacefully sleeping in his cradle. Then she saw a dead snake on the floor. She realised that the mongoose had saved her son but by that time, it was too late.
