"Sir we found this chain lying on the highway; we have no idea if this is made of gold or any other metal, we want to get rid of this chain, please buy it from us just for rupees ten thousand." said the man clad in rags to Sukesh.

"Keep your chain with you; I have no interest in it; now get lost." said Sukesh.

"We are poor people; police might arrest us for the possession of this heavy chain." said the man looking at his friend who was all alike him clad in rags.

"Okay, leave this chain with me; I'll check with the goldsmith about the worth of this chain." said Sukesh taking the chain in his hand which was at least half kilogram in weight.

"Sir you have no faith on us; how can we trust you? We cannot give you the whole chain......." said the man in rags.

"Then get lost......" said Sukesh irritatingly.

"There is way.......please take one link of this chain and get it checked by the goldsmith." said the man in rags snatching a link from the heavy chain.

Three Days Later

Sukesh was excited and was waiting for the men in rags. The metal link which they gave him was 24 caret gold. The half kilogram chain was worth rupees five crore, which could be bought just for ten thousand from those fools.

The door bell rang and Sukesh opened the door. The men in rags were on the door.

"The link you gave me was made of some alloy so your chain is worth nothing. But it looks beautiful to me; I can pay five thousand for this chain."

"No sir not a penny less then ten thousand....." said the man in rags.

"Today is your great day; I'm generous, take six thousand and get lost."

"Not a penny less then ten thousand...."

"Okay......give me the chain." said Sukesh taking the chain in his hand and giving rupees ten thousand to them.

Two Hours Later

"What the hell is this? This chain is made of copper alloy worth rupees fifty or sixty.....sale it to any junk trader not to me." said the goldsmith looking scornfully at the alloy chain.

Sukesh took a deep breath; his greed had cost him his hard-earned rupees ten thousand.
