Prasant is sitting in the big celebration hall, where the noted writers of the country will be felicitated and receive awards from the President of the country. Thousands of successful people from different fields of work are been invited to grace the occasion. Among all the authors of the best-selling novel ‘’ Memory Of Bonding’’, Mr. Surendra Das will be receiving the academy award, which is the highest award in the field of literature. Prasant is a very successful physician of the country. Dr. Prasant is always busy and it’s very rare that he gets any time to attend any such functions. But today he had come here along with his wife Dr. Sangeeta to see Surendra Das. The author Mr. Surendra Das has penned so many things from childhood days to college days by giving different names which resemble the story of Dr. Prasant and his best friend Surendra. Dr. Prasant was so busy in his profession that after getting into this profession couldn’t be in touch with his Surendra. But when he saw a picture of Surendra on the cover page of the book, he couldn’t resist and started going through the book. Even he told his staff of the clinic that he would like to take a rest, so that will not be available. This was very unusual for Dr. Prasant. His wife Dr. Sangeeta was also very much surprised with his this behavior. Dr. Prasant get into his room and sat on the sofa with the book. He was looking at the picture on the cover page and his heart bit started increasing. He started reading the book. He could feel the presence of his best friend Surendra beside him. All the sweetest past memories of their togetherness got fresh and he started feeling like missing something very important of his life. While going through the book he could visualize they're playing together, their getting wet in rainwater, they're eating together on one plate, they're sleeping together after reading till late-night before the final examination under one blanket, their fighting with others for the sake of protecting each other’s self-image, their riding on one bicycle together, their prayer before the God for each other’s good health and better life. Even the fracture of the right leg of Surendra while fell down from the tree to get mangos for Prasant. Surendra was a very good sportsman due to this fracture he could not further participate in any sports. Surendra sacrificed it for the happiness of Prasant. Surendra was a very good student and was getting scholarships regularly. He used to get beautiful gifts for Prasant in that money. He never made Prasant feel unhappy for want of anything. During school times Surendra used to write beautiful poems and stories and Prasant used to read them first. Even after school both Prasant and Surendra took admission to the same college. Prasant was in science and Surendra was in Arts. Still, both of them were friends. Their friendship was unique. After 12th Prasant was selected to take admission in the best medical college in the country at Delhi. At that time Prasant lost his father. Surendra was the only person was with him at that worst moment of his life. As he saw that it’s going to be very tough for Prasant to take admission, Surendra gave all his savings to Prasant for his further study in medical college. Surendra and Prasant got separated for this as Prasant has to go to Delhi. Even till the 3rd year of M B B S Surendra was sending money regularly to Prasant. This was been arranged from the sale of the books of Surendra. When Prasant arranged for the study loan, since then he asked Surendra not to send him any money. But both of them were in touch with each other till the completion of M B B S of Prasant. After that Prasant went to U S A for doing PG and specialization and got married to Dr. Sangeeta. Since then, Prasant left to touch with Surendra. But Surendra was always keeping all the information about Prasant. In this chapter, Prasant closed the book and started crying like a child. His wife came and could not understand the reason. At the age of 45, she saw Dr. Prasant as a small child. She sat near him and started consoling him. Then before Sangeeta could ask anything, Prasant told,’’ This book is written by my best friend Surendra. This is all about our old childhood days, our friendship. Here he never mentioned my blonder of not being in touch with him. He had sacrificed for me, still, he loves me, he keeps every update of mine, and celebrates all my success. I am very selfish. I ran after my success but had forgotten the person who had made it possible for me. Sangeeta, I want to meet him and beg him to pardon me.’’ Then Sangeeta could understand the bonding of true friends. She told Prasant that tomorrow Surendra will be receiving the highest award for his book,’’ The Memory’. As they had received the invitation to attend the function, where he can meet his best friend Surendra.

Prasant and Sangeeta were sitting in the third row and waiting very eagerly for the starting of the ceremony. Prasant was very eager to see his friend. Still, the tears are rolling down from his eyes. Suddenly Prasant felt a hand on his shoulder and got the feeling of the hand of Surendra. He looked back and became speechless. He saw his dearest Surendra who was wiping the tears from his eyes and saying,’’ Still now you remain as a child. Now you are a big man and one of the best doctors in our country. How could you cry? Stop crying, my dear. I am here and till I will be alive will not let the tears come in your eyes.’’ Then Prasant stood up and hugged his Surendra. He introduced Sangeeta to Surendra. Then Sangeeta told,’’ I am very sorry. Maybe for me you both friends lost the touch. Please pardon me both of you.’’ Then Surendra said,’’ See Sangeeta if my Prasant will further cry then I will not give any excuse to you. Please take care of him. He is very emotional.’’

At that time Surendra’s name was called from the dais. Prasant walked along with him till Surendra reached the dais. Surendra was felicitated and got the award from the President. In his speech Surendra told,’’ This book is written by me on my own memories couldn’t have been able to write this if my best friend Dr. Prasant had not been with me. With your permission, I request my friend Prasant to come on the dais and share with me.’’ The hall was filled with the clapping of all present there and Dr. Prasant reached the dais. Both the friends hugged each other and said loudly,’’ Thank you The Memory.’’
