Melody of Love
Melody of Love
In a small rice shop in Soro Bazaar, Balasore, Rebati Panda worked from early morning every day. She belonged to a very poor family. Her father pulled a rickshaw, and her mother worked as a domestic helper in people’s homes. Yet, there was a beautiful dream shining in Rebati’s eyes — she wanted to study hard and build a better life.
One day, a shiny white Fortuner car stopped in front of the shop. Out stepped Sachin Satpathy — the only son of Soro’s richest mill owner. Tall, fair, and charming, his smile could brighten the darkest day. He had come to buy rice, but his eyes got locked on Rebati’s innocent and beautiful face.
“Why is such a beautiful girl working in this small shop?” Sachin asked with a warm smile.
Rebati shyly lowered her head and replied softly, “Just working, sir.”
From that day onward, Sachin started visiting the shop daily on some excuse or the other. His genuine care slowly won Rebati’s heart. One day he said, “I want to take you around Balasore. Will you come with me?”
They went to Chandipur Sea Beach. The gentle waves of the sea seemed to echo the feelings in their hearts. Sachin held Rebati’s hand and said, “Rebati, I have all the wealth in the world but no peace. You are poor, but your eyes contain an entire ocean of love. I want to drown in that ocean.”
One evening, they visited the famous Khirochora Gopinath Temple in Remuna. In the peaceful divine atmosphere, Sachin held Rebati’s hand and promised, “I will marry you, Rebati. No amount of money or society’s pressure can stop me.”
But soon, the news of their relationship spread. Sachin’s father became furious. He threw Sachin out of the house and harshly threatened Rebati.
Rebati was completely heartbroken. She felt she had ruined Sachin’s life. Crying bitterly, she climbed alone to the top of Panchalingeswar Hill. It was a dark night. The sky was covered with heavy black clouds.
She sat under an old banyan tree, covering her face with both hands, and sobbed uncontrollably.
“I… hic… am just a poor girl… hic… Why did I destroy his life? Because of me, he lost his father’s love and everything… I don’t deserve to live… God… please throw me down from this hill… Let me die… hic… hic…”
Suddenly, the sky thundered and heavy rain poured down. Lightning flashed. Rebati was getting drenched but refused to move. She kept crying, banging her head on the wet ground.
At that exact moment, Sachin came running up the hill in the pouring rain. Seeing Rebati in that broken state, his heart shattered. He shouted desperately,
“Rebatiiiiii…!! No… Don’t do this, my life…!!”
Sachin ran to her and pulled her into a tight embrace. The rain poured heavily over them as they held each other.
Crying uncontrollably, Sachin said with a choking voice, “Rebati… hic… Do you want to leave me? I cannot live even a single moment without you… hic… Let my wealth burn, let my mill be destroyed… but I cannot bear the pain of losing you… Please… don’t leave me… I will die without you… hic… hic…”
Rebati buried her face in his chest and wept loudly. “I… hic… am poor… I have nothing… You are so rich… Because of me, you lost your father’s blessing… How can I be yours? Leave me… hic… hic… I have destroyed your life…”
Sachin held her face in both hands, tears streaming down, and said emotionally, “You are my greatest treasure! Your eyes, your pure heart, your smile… they have made me the richest person in the world. Without you, I am nothing… just an empty body. Rebati… please don’t leave me… I am ready to leave everything for you… my wealth, my status, my everything… Just be mine… hic… I can’t live without you…”
The rain slowly reduced. The moon appeared through the clouds. Sachin kissed her forehead, eyes, cheeks, and finally their lips met in a deep, tearful, and passionate kiss.
Rebati, still crying, whispered, “I am yours… in this life… and in every life after this… I will never leave you…”
Sachin hugged her tighter and said, “Promise me… you will never leave me…”
“Promise… hic… hic…”
Finally, Sachin’s father realized the depth of their true love. Their marriage was celebrated grandly in a beautiful resort in Balasore. After the wedding, they visited Chandipur Beach, Remuna Temple, and Panchalingeswar Hill once again, walking hand in hand.
Rebati looked at Sachin and said, “It’s not money, but your pure and selfless love that has made me a queen.”
Sachin smiled and replied, “And I want to remain a poor lover in front of you… forever.”
Even today, their love story continues to echo in the waves of Chandipur, the sacred halls of Remuna Temple, and the misty hills of Panchalingeswar. ❤️
