Nimmi, call us once you reach your place. Don't be careless with your luggage. Take care. These were her friends who had come to see her off as she was moving to her hometown. Nimmi and her friends had completed their Course in engineering and had secured placements as well. Before their joining in the new jobs they were going to their home which is but natural. Nimmi's hometown was about 6 hours from her campus and she prefers to travel by bus which is more convenient She checks her seat and settles down and notes a middle aged man is going to be seated next to her in the journey. Even though a bit apprehensive and feeling un comfortable, she thinks it is a short journey so she would manage somehow.

As the bus starts moving she gets busy with her favourite book and earphones on. Everything seemed ok. After an hour's journey she dozed off to sleep only to wake up with a feeling that something was crawling under her shirt. She just jerks up and realises it is the fingers of the man seated next to her who was acting pranky with her. She felt so lousy on looking at him and the man was shamelessly grinning at her. This was enough to irritate nimmi to the maximal. Why not? Anyone would feel the same. She gets up from her seat , goes to the bus conductor and driver and asks them to halt the bus near a PoliceStation as she had to make a compliment about the mean behaviour of the Co passenger. The driver understood the matter and halts the bus near a Police Station amidst the anxious concerns of all the other passengers. Nimmi gets down the bus and rushes inside to narrate the whole incident and lodge a complaint against the best in the guise of a middle aged man.

All the passengers were grumbling at this gesture and cribbing how bold girls are becoming nowadays. They were enthused about the whole thing. The man in question now realised he was in trouble. He tries to gather support from the other passengers by saying that he had not done any mischief with Nimmi. He tries to put on a face that he was a gentle man married with children. He would never dare to do any such thing ever. All the people watching this started feeling bad that an elderly person was being troubled by a young lady. They even felt he was being victimised by Nimmi. But, Nimmi was sure about what she was doing . She wanted that the person who misbehaved with her should realise what amount of hurt he had done to her psyche. She could let go and keep quiet. That is the norm in our Society.

Men are men they can get away with anything. Women should tolerate and keep quiet otherwise people will lose respect for you. This is what every girl is taught and she as a woman bares with such treatment and passed on the same teachings to her children. Nimmi always recalls what her favourite teacher used to always tell to them all. It was a reference about some characters in Mahabharata the great epic written by Ved vyaas that speaks about how Amba and Ambalika tolerated all I'll treatment and suffered in silence until Draupadi came over and stood for her rights leading to the Great epic war between kauravas and pandavas.

Ofcourse her intention was not to lead to any such condition but what was right had to be done. Wolves in disguise had to be booked and taught a lesson that would stop others from doing any such mischief . This was a small step in that direction nevertheless at least someone somewhere somehow had to bell the cat right? She leaves the decision to the men in uniform and walks away confidently . She boards another bus and continues her onward journey feeling a bit proud and light that she had done her part of the job. But a thought still kept haunting her why me? Why so? Can there be any respite from such tormentors. ?Nobody has the answer. We can only wish nobody else should undergo such experiences.
