Me and the Valentine's Day

I might laugh at memes that say not celebrating valentine's saves a lot of cash in your pocket, but then as I scroll down and see a room filled with red balloons, red roses and brown cake, with words like I Love You or Happy Valentine's Day, my heart might sob a little from deep inside.

It isn't sad, or depressing to spend the season of love alone. Okay maybe it is a little, but when I see couples uniting everywhere today, planning surprises and dates with gifts and promises, I feel at ease. A world filled with love and romance, like I would write in my fantasy novel. The air around feels different, the day looks a little brighter, and the night, oh the night, is filled with red and white, and of course, few love bites. Everyone around seems to be in love, love that today would feel more tender. The video calls would last a little longer, the kisses on the forehead would leave an impression, the hugs would be warmer and the smiles would be wider.

My fairy-tale poem would feel realistic for minutes together, and as I will walk further, leaving the restaurants, theatres and gardens of love behind, I will leave a probable sigh.

But then in a fraction of a second a bunch of two-wheelers with guys and girls laughing out loud, and making jokes about this day, might pass with woosh, and I will smile remembering the bunch of crazy I have back there, who too might be chewing popcorns and watching a horror movie all alone.

Further down as I will retrace my steps back home, I will find how happy and peaceful my father's hug feels, while the busy mother cooks my favourite dinner. And when I turn around, I might find a box of pringles lying there on the table, with the words, "Happy Valentine's Day, from family" and my heart will pound with love and happiness all over again.
