In a town, there was a little girl named Ida. She was an orphan and lived with her grandmother. Ida was intelligent and beautiful but very lazy. Her grandma was old but Ida would never help her and would make more demands. One day, her grandma was very ill. Ida called the doctor home and the doctor checked her grandma’s body. “A cell is damaged in her body.” said the doctor. “She can be saved if her body is operated. But the operation charges are about 56 lakh. And the charges for airplane, taxies would be different.”Ida was very upset after hearing this. At night, she slept with her grandmother in their room, and Ida had a dream. She saw a fairy looking just like the doctor. The fairy said “At 5 a.m. a golden sparrow will enter your house. Give her some food to eat and water to drink. Make a beautiful bed for her to sleep. While going she will give you a small seed. Grow it with warm air, water, love and care. The plant will give you medicine.

Make a paste of it and apply it on your grandma’s forehead for 30 days. But once you start applying it, you can’t sleep for more than one hour or else your grandma will die.” Ida woke up in a fright. It was a quarter to 5; she made something to eat for the little sparrow and got some water. At 5 a.m. the golden sparrow entered her house through the window. She ate some food, drank water. Meanwhile, Ida had made a small bed for her to sleep. The sparrow slept in bed and woke up after half an hour. The sparrow gave Ida a small seed, smiled and flew away. Ida gently bowed the seed on her window sill and grew it with love and care. A small medicine appeared on the plant. Ida made a paste out of it. She put it on her grandma’s forehead. This was her first step towards hard work. She had decided not to sleep for more than one hour. As her grandma wasn’t well, the doctor suggested her to sleep. So, Ida had to do all the house chores. She swept the floor, washed all the dishes and clothes. This was her second step towards hard work. After 15 days the paste was about to get over, She requested the golden sparrow to come again. Ida gave the sparrow food and water and made a bed for her to sleep. The sparrow again rested for half an hour and gave her the medicine. Ida crushed the medicine but, sadly there was no water. The water well was about 60 miles away. She decided to save her grandmother and so she started her journey towards the water well. She had no footwear to wear so she walked barefoot.

His leg started bleeding, but she still walked towards the well. In 5 hours she was there. She filled two buckets of water and started her journey back home. She made the paste and put it on her grandma’s forehead. She was really tired but she didn’t sleep for more than one hour. This was her third step towards hard work. After 30 days her grandma was completely fine. She called the doctor for her checkup. The doctor said, “She is alright now. Just bring her for a regular checkup, every Tuesday and I will give you pills, give it to her regularly.” After hearing this, Ida had tears of joy in her eyes. She was so happy that she hugged her grandmother and started crying. She went out in the sunlight and said to the golden sparrow, “Hey golden sparrow, wherever you are, very big thank you to you. If you won’t give me that medicine I couldn’t be with my grandmother, Thank you.” The sparrow appeared in front of her and said, “It’s my pleasure girl.” And disappeared in bright light.

A fairy godmother appeared in front of Ida and said, “Congratulations, Ida. We thought you would never change!”

Ida said in excitement, “Ummm….. Me… change…wait… Is it a dream???” saying this she pinched herself. “It’s not a dream, its reality.” “Ha, ha, ha! Yes, Ida, it’s a reality. You were very lazy, but your love and care towards your grandma have changed you completely. I had sent that fairy in your dream and that golden sparrow. The lazy Ida has now become an intelligent, beautiful and hardworking Ida. Promise me that you won’t change now!” said the fairy godmother. “Yes fairy godmother, now I won’t ever change.”

So everybody should remember,

Laziness leads to dis achievement while

Hard work leads to better achievements.
