How Many Of Us are forced to take that one second?

To adjust our bra straps, lower our tops and cover our chests,

while we move or travel.

How Many Of Us?

Involuntarily takes that one second to hold our bags a little tighter,

or search our belongings and see what is the sharpest object we have,

when we are out at night at just 8 'o' clock.

How Many Of Us?

Are silenced for at least one second,

in the past days, weeks, months, years, decades or centuries.

because they saw us as mere puppets and for them our consent wasn't real.

How Many Of Us?

Have prayed, joked, commented for just one second,

that today I wish I wasn't born as a woman.

How Many Of Us?

Have been reduced to roles written by society,

just because we were women...

How Many Of Us?

We do not hate our gender or do we detest it.

But every time

You comment on me

You stereotype me 

You disregard me

You undermine me

We protest!

And from now onwards the noise is going to be unbearable,

because the phoenix has decided not to get burned anymore.

Even for just a second.
