Introduction:

We all want to grow up quickly for many reasons, but we don't want to get old.

On that frustrating night, I was fretting about the worst performance of my whole day at an interview. I transferred all my irritation to my bike accelerator and zipped down the road at top speed. Suddenly, an old man was ahead waving his hand for lift. I stopped my bike roughly very close to him. He just looked up and smiled for a moment, then asked if I could drop him after two miles from here.

Sometimes, we do things according to what our instinct says. I nodded my helmeted head, and he climbed on the back seat. I was calm but sad while he ate some rusks from his bag. I was really unhappy about the things happening with my life. I said, “Can I ask you something?” He gestured, “To Me? What is it?” I probed, “How are you, actually?” He said, “I am doing well, but you don’t seem to be well.” I replied, “Yes, if I would have born in your time, I would be like you now. Because your time was better and readily suited for life, not like now. Today it’s an evil society.

‘Don’t grow up it’s a trap’

He laughed loud and said, “Why is that so?” At that moment, one quote struck my mind, I replied, “Don’t grow up it’s a trap.” The old man came back to me with a few ideas which changed my thoughts and view of my life. Maybe this is something philosophical, but he had my full attention.

“Ready or not, you have no choice.”

Dude, even I have thought about it. I was unhappy when I was growing up. I felt like I was losing too much of my happy childhood days. I felt like I didn’t get enough of what I desired. We all want to grow up quickly for many reasons, but we don’t want to get old. Nature always does everything in its own phases and distinct ways. When we grow up, not only do we grow physically, but our problems grow too. The fact is we can’t reject growing up. Whether you like it or not, you must grow up. Ready or not, you have no choice. It’s just life.

When we are kids, we want to be an adult because we believe if we are a ‘big’ person, we can do anything we want. We can choose to be liberated in life. That child’s mindset often stays too long in our memory. It makes us not to accept the reality of growing up that brings us more responsibility than liberation. But, it teaches us many things. Sometimes, the problems come when we are not ready enough.

“Have the courage to leave Bad things.”

There will be times when life or other people force us to be someone other than who we are. Then, Life will become bitter. We will sit on top of it and destroy our peace of living. Someone, who gave us the rainbow at the beginning, will at the end betray us and leave us with so much pain that we can’t forget it. Sometimes, our sacrifice will return with disappointment. Or sometimes, people can’t see our effort to make them happy. So, one thing that will help you overcome this is your courage. You will be better when you have the courage to leave your sad memories, bad relationship or humiliations.

“Growing up is not a Trap, but perhaps a bit complicated.”

I agree, in this evil society, being grown up is complicated. Life is not like the rosy picture we thought it was when we were children. But seriously, it’s not a trap. Childhood is the most beautiful thing to happen in our life. We are happy with the simplest things, our thoughts and expectations are simple. We take things very lightly, and we do not get hurt very easily. But, when we are grown up, we worry and might face problems, failures and humiliations that may damage us to the core.

However, these damages, or problems will teach us many things. We have known sadness, joy, friendship, humiliations, failures, damage, and rejections and many other emotions. These make us a mature person in mind but not by age or body. Over thinking problems will always drain your happiness. Don’t allow this attitude to drain your beautiful life. Learn to accept reality and motivate yourself to come out of your safe zone. Travel to new places. Help others. Then, you will be the coolest person!

Finally, that old man tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to stop the bike. He waved his hand happily and walked into the streets of trees. Maybe he was that coolest person! I drove my bike with a pleasant heart. Maybe it was the coolest conversation I ever had.
