Goody Days

The village of Malgudi had waves of happiness...as Shankar, once a simple village boy.... now had returned from London...and had brought goodies for the villagers...

The people of Malgudi knew no bounds of happiness when they saw Shankar coming towards the village of Malgudi..

The villagers welcomed Shankar warmly and were happy indeed to see Shankar a village boy.... turned a wealthy and wise yet grounded business man.... who had returned from London....

Next day Shankar called the villagers of Malgudi to his house...and sat between them as they gathered around Shankar...

Shankar reminds the villagers of Malgudi about the goodies he had brought from London for each home in the village of Malgudi....and thanks to the villagers for coming to his home...

Shankar then shows his hugely successful book published in London...the cover of the book bore the image of the face of each of the villagers from Malgudi village... and the book titled Goody Days.... Shankar informed the villagers how popular the book was not only in London but across 15 countries in various languages... to the surprise of the villagers in the author section.... instead of Shankar's name........it showed.... Authored by.... the villagers of Malgudi....

Shankar then reminded how his childhood was written as a story... page by page.... chapter by chapter....by each home in the village of Malgudi.... where he played....learnt...and grew up... . amongst the villagers of Malgudi...as a family.. where his childhood was safe and carefree..... where he ate at a different place...and slept at a different.... but all he could feel then and now was the love and endearment.... which Shankar purely received from Malgudi and it's villagers.... Shankar had an old album which had black and white photographs of Malgudi... it's homes..... it's natural beauty and it's people.....

The villagers were emotional and in tears when they came across such heart touching act by Shankar.... Shankar had another surprise for the villagers....he announced that each house will be gifted with an employment opportunity as Shankar was about to start a processing unit... where the villagers of Malgudi could work and earn handsomely....as well as the crops grown in the fields of Malgudi would be bought by Shankar's processing unit... directly without any middle men so that the villagers won't have to fend for the right returns or get manipulated by agents...... hence there would be right returns for right hardships..... Shankar also had promised to start higher education institute for the youth for free which would help the youth from Malgudi to pursue higher education without the worry of financial burdens...and all these things came to possibility because of the grand earnings and royalties Shankar had made from his book The Goody Days....

The villagers of Malgudi... danced in happiness..... and praised the son of the village... Malgudi....

Indeed Shankar was indebted to each villager who inspired him to be what he was today.. and in each house was a celebration... indeed the village of Malgudi truly had Goody Days.....
