Veda woke up bubbling with excitement. She woke up to the soothing melody of suprabhatham as usual and the lovely smell of coffee. Veda was blessed with a loving family. Like every day she went to the kitchen and hugged her mama. This was her everyday morning ritual.

Veda was super excited today coz it was school day after her session break. This was the day report cards and awards were given out. The new session would be starting from a week after. Veda was excited about meeting her friends after 2 weeks

She set off to school. She was all charged up today since her dad was in town this week and was not traveling as he usually does.

After reaching school she was so engrossed with her friends talking about her plans with her dad that weekend she did not realize the time ticking. Soon it was time for the award ceremony for which she did not care much. Suddenly she heard her name being called for the economics topper award. Veda's happiness knew no bounds. She felt as if she was at the top of the world.

She went home all happy at the thought of sharing the news of the unexpected award with her loving family.

As she stepped home she saw her dad sitting on the couch, back from work relaxing. Veda was about to share her excitement with her dad when his phone rang.

Suddenly she heard a lot of noise amongst the ring tone of appa's phone. She opened up her eyes with a jerk and suddenly saw that it was her landline that was ringing and her house was full of people looking grim and sad

That is when Veda realized that she was dreaming and the undeniable reality was her dad was dead. This was the morning after he died. Veda closed her eyes tight with tears rolling down her cheeks and making the pillow damp.

She wanted to sleep and dream of her dad again. She did not want to wake up and face the tough journey that was about to begin........... She tried to drift back into sleep and see her dad in her dreams ........he was gone ... gone forever.
