'You are a damned unlucky creature for this family,' swore Mita 's mother in law. It is now almost six months since Mita' s marriage to Atul. But after the initial calm period of two months, Mita was now a constant subject of tirade from her mother in law. Atul and Mita were college friends and after a small courtship they decided to marry much to the objection of both families due to the difference in their caste. Also Atul 's parents had a big demand for dowry but Atul had refused all that. Instead he had offered to gift his parents in exchange for the dowry. Atul was working in a responsible position in a MNC and his salary was good and had the courage to compensate. So Atul' s parents had to sollow their pride due to their son's objection. This repentance vented as anger on their daughter in law. Mita was also working before her marriage but had to leave the job due to constant pestering of her mother in law. Mita had to accept keeping the honour of Atul who had promised her to make good her loss in a different manner. But Mita was determined not to remain a home maker all her life. She had lot of ideas and always kept herself aware of new business tactics and waited patiently for her opportunity. Because she was confident that she would definitely get a chance under the sun to stand up on her own feet financially. Her mother in law was a great dampener. More than once she had scuttled Mita's wish to start her own business. But Mita was adamant.

Now her mother in law started a new form of pestering. She constantly kept roiling Mita to bear a child and sometimes she even put pressure on Atul.

This constant bantering continued for days. Both Atul and Mita had become bored and irritated. So they finally relented and decided to start a family. Now when Mita became pregnant, her mother in law started throwing warnings at her that if she gave birth to a girl, then she would be packed off forever to her parents house along with her dau

ghter and never to return. Atul felt very pained with the treatment his wife Mita was getting but he seemed helpless. Fortune was also not smiling on him.

Then Mita gave birth to twins. The first to be born was a bonny girl. Her mother in law was overjoyed that now she could kick out her daughter in law and give his son a remarriage and rake in huge dowry. But within half an hour Mita gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. It was both pleasure and pain for the mother in law. Now she couldn't throw out her daughter in law.

Now managing two kids at the same time became a challenge for Mita. But surprisingly her mother in law now changed her stance. She became more accepting and extended her helping hand. Mita was surprised but knew that now was her time she had been waiting for patiently. Atul was also very happy with the positive developments. He was always supportive of Mita but couldn't do his bit for the constant bickering of his mother.

As the kids grew little older and consumed much of the time of the grand parents, Mita took the deep plunge into her venture. Because there was no one free enough to constantly pester her.

Mita slowly started exploring and exploiting her network. First she started sale of her home made pickles and papad. Then as the sale grew she started outsourcing her products which she had let out to trusted agents under strict quality controls. Within a few years she had grown her business to such a level that her husband Atul could confidently resign his job and take up the marketing of his wife's company. Orders after orders followed. Mita now was completely relieved of taking care of her children which now had become the collective responsibility of her parents in law and Atul. Now after securing a big export order Mita was well esconsed in the development of cross border trade.

Life had now changed from expectations to fulfilment for both Mita and her mother in law at their own levels.
