Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, there was a man called Dick and when he lost his first wife he married again. He had two daughters Mia was from his first wife and his second was Abha. He lived with his family on a hilltop in a small village. Dick was away from home for 7/8 months as he had to earn money in the nearby town.

The wicked stepmother ill-treated Mia and always made her work in the field and gave her worn-out dresses as well as left-out food. When Mia finished her work in the field and sat to have her loaf and water, she used to cry under the apple tree and look up at the sky to tell God about her pain.

When Dick used to come home then all his earnings his wife and his daughter took it away from him and there was nothing left for Mia. Dick used to feel sad but he was helpless. When Dick was in the village he used to go along with his daughter to work in the field. After work both the father and daughter shared the poor food that was packed by his wife. But they were happy working and singing songs together. Mia was happy as Dick would be there in the village for a few months till he would leave for work in the nearby town.

One fine morning as they finished their work and were resting under the apple tree, they saw a prince come galloping and stopped his horse in front of them. The prince said that he had lost his way in the nearby jungle and was tired and hungry. Mia gave him water and the simple food they offered to the prince.

The prince fell in love with the beautiful Mia and was willing to wed her. Dick could not believe what he heard. The prince took Mia on his horse and both went off to a distant land where he had his kingdom.

Dick fell on his knees and thanked God for being so kind and thereafter Dick was a happy man.
